I think, from the very little I've been told, the common language will be English ... group training, meetings and practice games will be in English as will anything PR related. Individual coaching sessions, for attack/midfield/defence will be at the discretion of the coaches and players.

If there's a training group of French speaking midfield players, and RLB, it clearly makes sense for the language to be French, no point taking chances by trying to be too clever. That's all I've been told and guessed some of it tbh.

I offered my services, to the club, but unsurprisingly got a nice letter and nothing else. I have a lovely place here, in Fife, and would've happily taken in a French speaking apprentice but it's totally impractical. If I'd been in Durham I'd have jumped at the chance ...

... shame I could've taught them all kinds of slang and bad language.

I've been promised a meeting with Mrs RLB, who needs help with her English apparently, so I'll push for that and ingratiate mesel <laugh>

Seen somewhere else someone saying Chelsea are after a 5m loan fee and want someone to cover 100% of his wages which are apparently huge.

If that’s correct, I hope we aren’t even considering the lad.
Don’t disagree but if his goals kept us up it would be money well spent surely?

On that score, absolutely. You risk that on a Xhaka or Diakite. Guiu who has shown nothing in the premier league on his few occasions, though?

I don’t even think he’d be a guaranteed a start over Mayenda or Isidor.

Fair play.

For me it needs to be all English, no exceptions. Wenger was strong on this. On the pitch, on a match day, there can be no exceptions. If one player hears an instruction they all need to hear it. The best way to make sure players are speaking English, is only speak English. In my opinion anyway.

It seems like all of the lads coming in speak English to a good level. I suspect that is one of the things they have set as a pre-req. Hope so anyway. I was once in an academy setup and there were a couple of lads from France. Brilliant players. Brilliant lads. And they refused to speak anything other than English. It slowed us down a bit, but not for long. They picked it up really quickly because they were committed. I reckon our new lads are the same.

Can't agree there tbh, whatever it takes to get people up to speed in the important thing.

I'm sure Wenger insisted on anything group related to be English but would talk individually to French coaches and players in their own language.

Anything else would be crazy. I'm sure it sounded good, as PR, but I doubt it would work in reality.

I became fluent in French by mixing with the locals so learning Provencal and Italian slang which is much quicker ...

... learning from English books would've been very basic and clumsy.

It would be along the lines of Bobby Saxton telling the French how to 'get their f*cking foot in' <laugh>
