If we were judging players by base stats at this level every signing would be a dud

Yeah, but you're literally saying ignore them on the basis that West Ham want him so he must be good.

By all means, open up the discussion to why he's a good fit for us and how he can make an effective contribution. I'm interested in learning.

Not really I was just effectively saying some canny clubs want him. But I’ve since posted some statistics of him. I advise having a look around about him and what people are saying. He’s likely to move to a club with European football than us imo so if we get it done I’ll be surprised

His contributions last season are the only measurement of his ability at the level. That being said, his record is decent at Genk before that but not mind blowing. A player who is right for West Ham isn't necessarily right for Sunderland.
He's just turned 21 and was misused at Leicester massively in one of the worst prem teams I've seen.

But yeah I wouldn't really read into his goals and assists at this stage same with a lot of young players - lots of them blow up around this age as they develop and start hitting great numbers.

That looks impressive but how many U21 players are there in the top seven leagues and how does that compare across all ages? on the face of it all three relegated clubs have at least one brilliant U21.

I appreciate that players can blow up, the thing from my perspective is that we would need him to blow up if we played a 10. Can he operate more deeply and be an 8? Is it looking more likely that Le Feè will be the 6?

I'm not questioning the lads potential really, just trying to understand if he's really what we need in the team.

It is yeah, Salvatore. Only one half season in serie A which wasn't actually bad by any means but he's spent the rest in serie B.
Seen a bit of him. A decent little player but I wish someone would coach him to stay on his feet in the tackle. I would worry about him in the prem going to ground so much. Players much quicker than Seria B.

Haha yeah I said the same, I sort of see him as a jorginho type role next to someone like Sadiki - but just a backup deep midfielder that gives us a different dynamic.

If anyone can coach him it's our lads, we've assembled the avengers behind the scenes.

Aye, our coaches will be maasive this season. Cant wait to see them in action.

Yeah he can play deeper too, would work pretty well in the same role Rigg played last season.

I agree with the concerns about him suiting us though as it's not really the profile I was expecting us to target. Not to say I think we've filled our midfield with goalscorers but I thought we had enough cover for the 2 more advanced roles already and were looking for a 6.

In my opinion his finishing is a good level where he hits the corners a lot but never really gets shots in good positions because Leicester were woeful. Given the freedom to get into the box more and play around a striker I think he would score a lot more but we'll see, as I still don't know if it's a position we desperately need.

El Khannouss is a number 10 who rarely scores or assists. I'll be honest and say I've not seen enough of him to judge his ability, but we have playmakers in the team already, if we're signing a number 10, they have to be a match winner.

Is there good reason to project his goal contributions are going to increase? I don't think we the luxury of a €25m attacking player returning 5 goal contributions this season.
Sounds like Aouchiche

That is from a fair few weeks ago like, Bayer might have moved to other targets.
I imagine if we start accelerating talks other clubs might come flying in that can offer a lot more than us. I’ll be very surprised if we pull it off but very happy.

Doesn’t matter how good he is we can’t sign another African midfielder/attacker. Would Omari Hutchinson not fill the same role and cost about the same to? Thought he was good in the Euros, that was off the left but sure he played mainly from the right for Ipswich and looks like he could be a 10 as well.

Ah finally caught up

Was at shields and the set up was pretty much the same as last year dont think it was two pivots

Nice to see some new links, the lad from Leicester was shunted to the left at first but seems a canny player leicester ST holder mate says he is currently their best player not thats much to shout about atm

Would imagine the info re Neil contract is true, is rightfully going to ask for what Diarra and Enzo are on - Probably meet somewhere in the middle

I mean… we can

Neil and Rigg will need minutes if they both stay you know and the depth options will have a good chance to fill in.

Also not every team will get to the final they aren’t all gonna be gone for 6 games

They paid 22m. I think their starting price would be more than we got for Jobe after a relatively good season for Hutchinson albeit in a terrible team. Not sure why or even if Leicester have a release fee set at what they paid.

He’s reported to have a release clause of 22m to make an exit easy for him

If we sign bilal then we need to sign another midfielder and I don’t think the club will want to do that
