Maybe the Guendouzi link was just lazy journalism after seeing his comments on RLB. I know every possible signing is breaking new ground for us, but I find it difficult to imagine us spending £25m on a 3rd midfielder when we already have Neil and Rigg fighting for places. Cheaper options like Henderson, Miller or the lad from Switzerland feel like a more likely addition to me. We've still got another 5 or 6 positions to sign for after all.

Agreed. I wonder if Henderson and Miller from here would be sensible? Only another £7m or so of transfer commitment, but adds real potential, immeasurable experience and perhaps importantly increases the British core.

Especially if we're saving up for Amad

I agree it sounds like good balance to me and I think we still want to develop Neil and Rigg. Bringing in Guendouzi probably makes them permanent back ups.

He's an excellent footballer though so would certainly be thrilled if we were to get him.

I know we go on about Romano with the ‘ambitious project’ crack but if we get Diarra, then there’s no doubt that other players will be looking at us as an attractive option. Could be the sort of deal that makes Bulkas mind up and then a domino effect starts.

Journos taking punts a few weeks ago with the likes of Tommy Doyle and Henderson, look to be way off the mark for what the hierarchy’s actual plans for us were this summer.

People keep forgetting Clarke as well mate. £18m at the end of august, wasn’t reinvested in full at the time and goes into our PSR books this year.

Yeah I try not to come across as negative, maybe more managing expectations when it's so easy to just say every new signing is perfect. I'm over the moon for diarra but if he develops under Regis which seems almost impossible not to do then we have one of the best young midfielders in Europe with one of the best youth midfielders in Europe behind him.

If what Guendouz said about Regis is true Chelsea will be paying 100m+ next summer
