Everyone has a different opinion of how they view things , I am quite relaxed leaving it to KLD ,Speakman , the recruitment team and last but not least RLB as in general they have done well taking us from L1 to the Premier as quickly as we can have imagined . They deserve our trust !!!

I don’t think we do anything until 1st we will want deals in the PL financial figures.

Is this that important? Not arguing I just don’t see how it is. The FFP is a rolling three year thing and it’s not like we have shareholders to appease with the accounts?

The idea that we'll spend £100m on players and then not protect our status as a Premier League club by spending £3m on a keeper is far from logical in my opinion.

I understand the "theory" of the argument perfectly well, but reality is that the situation will not come down to "either a first team player or a reserve keeper".

Last season, these are the teams that had a 2nd keeper playing 5+ games:

Liverpool
Newcastle
Man City
Spurs
Ipswich
West Ham
Leicester
Wolves
Chelsea
Southampton
Bournemouth

I'm not sure if that's a statistical anomaly, but it's not worth the risk for me.
It absolutely isn’t a theory tbf. It’s financial reality. Anything we spend on one thing is money we can’t spend elsewhere. that is a definitive fact. It sits on our books and affects our PSR calcs. Just because we flex the budget in the season doesn’t change that simple unarguable truth. Now I’m being a bit of a dick because I’m bored and it’s a Sunday (because I’m happy to see us bring in a cheap backup keeper in reality) but facts is facts:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0105-wink:

now I just need to hold on and hope Patto plays 36 pl games next season!

Aye but say we do stay up, we are likely to have made a loss last year or certainly had less income than the next.

Depends on the financials I guess, that we don’t know yet.

The more I see of him and the more I read about him, the more sold I am. This is what I wanted from promotion, still bring in the young talents but ones we probably couldn't have gotten without promotion.

I don’t even need to see him to want him.
Man City academy player of the year in an academy stacked with players. He’s the perfect profile to bring in to the squad and have on the bench and act as succession planning for when Rigg inevitably leaves. Would also you’d expect be well suited and ready to contribute should we get relegated.

Yeah for all he’s extremely highly rated. Offering PL football? Not so sure

for me he’d replace Harrison Jones in the squad, who would go on loan to league one. Both get the minutes they need at this stage of their careers and both then are ready to contribute more solidly for us in 2026/27 season ideally still in the premier league or more likely back in the championship.

Feels an extremely low risk high reward signing, especially if we get a deal like the Cirkin one, and a deal which would be harder to do as a championship club.

There's no need to delay deals being made to July. They can just have the transfer itself happen in July. Makes no difference to anyone unless the selling club needs it now.

That's why Enzo and that new leeds guy technically don't join until 1st July anyway.

No I think both of those are explainable. Enzo’s loan doesn’t end until 30th June so the agreement on who pays what wages is fixed until then. From 1st July he signs permanently and we have to pay all his wages.

On Nmecha, his contact expires end June, so can’t sign on a free until 1st July
