Hemir built for the Prem lads

On interest - plenty scouted, interest is more about the approach, an interesting name i heard the other day was James formerly of Birmingham

Wonder if Speakman/Dodds/English overlapped whilst he was at Brum. Could help.

FWIW so glad we aren't in the championship competing for players against parachute clubs and Birmingham and Wrexham ffs.

And even if we get relegated we'll be one of those parachute clubs!!!
Aye,let's enjoy it while we can! I'm happy we won't be going to Wrexham,Birmingham,Coventry,Portsmouth,Millwall etc.
Looking forward to a real break from them.Bring on the Horrible Magpie Lair,Tottenham Stadium, Everton's new ground, West Ham's sell out to their previous wonderful home,Craven Cottage,Nottingham Forest......can't wait....home and away this season going to be special.
I've gone off thread here! Sorry lads, got carried away!

Mayenda took loads of stick. His development has been absolutely ridiculous.
His development has indeed been ridiculous. But it has also been fairly predictable. He improves every month and has more or less always done so this season when he's been fit.

Reading the retained list, felt like we were probably not signing Meptham.

For 80% of the season I was certain we should sign him then the final few weeks, thought we’ll probably need better in the prem / there’s better value in the championship.

I’ve probably swayed more to keeping him now. The reports from RLB and the footage of the team talking about him, sounds really important with a young squad. Good experience, played in the prem, always been fit. If he’s being brought in as a starter I’d be a bit disappointed but we’ll need options and he’s a really good 3rd/4th choice cb for a newly promoted side. Obviously great for championship level if the worst happens.

Isn’t Mayenda a prime example of why we shouldn’t write off Hemir?

Mayenda did nothing in Scotland and now he’s a £20million plus asset.

I know we can say ‘different attitude’ but had the Big Man shown elite level attitude before this season? He hadn’t.

Hemir has the physical attributes to be a monster, I’m gonna hold out hope see what this season brings (not for us but wherever we send him)

Maybe. But Mayenda showed more pace, more desire and more willingness to have a shot at goal in his first few minutes for us than Hemir ever did. I would be absolutely staggered if Hemir made it at any level of professional football other than the lowest Tier, and then he'll be a drifter if he sticks at it

He has been at three good clubs now. He is not a kid, and he has shown nothing

We can't retain a player who isn't ours.

I know that, it was more the clubs post online thanking him for his contribution. His potential extension with Bournemouth will probably mean any deal will take a bit longer than it did to announce ELF

Standard media release tbh.

Means we'll get a scarf above head picture when he signs permanently.

As others have said Hemir needs to find some fire in his belly. He could be a beast of a ST but his mentality and attitude has to change - his warm up at Shields in preseason was ridiculous, couldn’t even be arsed to lift his knee up high and keep up with the rest of the group. Hopefully he comes back and has some renewed determination after seeing what Mayenda has done, but I doubt it.

Can’t argue with that

Like I said earlier - the main frustration with Mayenda came from great chances being missed. He’s put that right

Not really relevant to your point here but I keep clicking on the championship to look for this forum, and then that follows with a great realisation :emoticon-0103-cool:

Also, we may need to take in account that very little gets done in June,as this will go into this years accounts, from july its a new kettle of fish
