can’t see us moving away from the 4-4-2 defensive shape.
Possibly, big difference is that giving the ball to championship teams brings out their weaknesses at times, these prem teams love dominating the ball and will be able to hurt us with it. We’ll need that extra body in midfield imo.

Let's not get it twisted here mind, Jobe was superb all season. Our most consistent and in my opinion our best and most important player this season. Zero wins without him, probably come back to the SoL against Coventry at 2-2 instead of 2-1 without him making that tackle on Wright, completely dominated the midfield after Neil went off last Saturday. I can go on and on, my favourite SAFC player for well over a decade.

I agree l, but flip side, if we paid 30million plus for him, we’d be ****ing livid.

Try and avoid Bellingham name all he likes but there’s a ****ing massive ‘Bellingham tax’ on that fee. We all know it.

Not me personally, think he's an elite midfielder in the making. We'll probably sign a better player right now but in 5+ years I expect Jobe to be right at the top. I'd pay that for him without thinking twice

I disagree with this to be honest. I don’t think the fee is inflated at all.

That said, I don’t think Dortmund would necessarily be the ones wanting to pay it if he wasn’t a Bellingham. It would be a prem club.

I don’t agree with you on this we finished a comfortable 4th in the league and we didn’t win a single game he missed

Yeah but when you think of how much we’re getting for him, a £30m player should tear up the championship. Would you say he was currently head and shoulders above everyone in that division this season? We spoke about Hamer the other day and he’s been top drawer this season, he’s a £15m player playing at arguably his level.

Dortmund are buying him for his potential and the money we’re receiving will undoubtedly allow us to improve our Xl for this coming season which is the all important one.

Agree. Way my player of the year and imo our most important. First half of the season he was incredible. Faded second half but was a beast in the first half. Turned it on in the final second half too. Only 19, can go the whole way imo, that’s why I don’t want us to miss out on the opportunity of the fee we could potentially get, these types are difficult to find.

That was my point, potential doesn't keep you in the PL.

I'd rather Jobe stayed because I absolutely love watching him ...

... but I'm a realist.

All I was arguing was that jobe was more important to us than Clarke was the season before he left

Of course there’s going to be a portion of the fee based off his potential you don’t buy a 19 year old thinking he’s the final product

Which is why it's good to sell. But i'm not having people say he isn't as good as some think, he will be elite.

Think what we can buy for similar fee though. A full Dutch international who’s already ‘made it’ for example.

Delap
Frimpong
Gravenberch
Odegaard
Manuel Locatelli

Top of my bracket players who cost 30-35million.

Alexis Mac Allister was 35 up front.

We might all think we are ****ing the boniest lass, but we aren’t.

Just speaking generally as they’re interested in Jobe, Frankfurt over the last two seasons signed Ekitike for around £13m and Pacho for £10m. Pacho was sold this season, just 12 months later to PSG for £35m. Ekitike is now probably worth £40-50m.

That’s the model we’re trying to employ and both of those would’ve improved our team exponentially compared to keeping Jobe. And we’d now be sitting on more money. As it currently stands we aren’t in a position to turn down £30m for a player based on how good he can potentially be, that’ll come in the next few seasons when we solidify ourselves as a PL club again.

Think all of them either had a release clause or the clubs just wanted them and their wages off the books though.

This isn't an inflated fee at all, if anything it's not enough.

He is GOOD, but he’s not currently playing at the level of what you’d expect for £30m imo. There was a fair few CM’s considerably better than him this season in the championship who you wouldn’t even pay £10m for. But that comes with age and experience

Decent deal for Forest. Hardly played last season

This reads to me like KLD has gotten Fab to post about the 40m release clause and us having no intention to sell under it.

He even liked Fabrizio’s post about it

it really is interesting watching the negotiation live.

Sky Germany report one thing… KLD responds via Fab … Dortmund then reply via Plettenberg
