I think it's fair to say that Clarke was more important, before he left, than Jobe is now.

Of course Jobe has a greater potential but he's currently inconsistent.

It's great though, and I agree with you, that it's wonderful to be able to watch lads like him, Amad, etc, come through our club.

Every time we see Jobe we can think of that advert and think, 'Born in Dudley ... made in Sunderland' :emoticon-0103-cool:

It’s a really important point this imo. £30m is a great deal still for us and currently, and I might be being a bit harsh here, Jobe hasn’t even been playing like a player we’d want to spend half of that on this coming season. Potential wise yes it’s massive undoubtedly but this coming season we need players to perform and if we’re spending £15-20m on players they need to be at PL level now and I’m not sure he is just yet. Going somewhere like Dortmund where the pressure is off and he’ll be in a consistent, solid team at the top end of the table dominating games most weeks will be great for his development.

We're talking about lads who got 10mill for Stewart who was crocked and tried to get Adringra on loan for Watson.

We're not push overs anymore.

Probably be 30 + add ons + sell on.

Would we take lower now with higher sell on or higher now with lower sell on?

I’d 100% take lower with bigger sell in. Bank a wedge now but I am certain Jobe moves in for at least double whatever we get.

I’d take 25 plus 30%, in full confidence we get smoother 15plus in 2 years.

Interesting eh. That's the agreement we were talking about on here in January. Be one to watch to see if it's indeed honoured or now it's big licks, pay up time due to his continued rise and us in the Prem
Might be off here but a ‘hand shake’ isn’t worth owt really. KLD could say yes that was the price if we remained in the championship.

To be honest mate, I'm enjoying it all because I believe the club know what they're doing.

We won't know the 'fee' even when it's announced ...

... there are so many clauses, add ons and payment periods these days.

There could be €10/15,000 more, in time, than the figure announced and, at the end of the day, none of our business <laugh>

I don’t agree with you on this we finished a comfortable 4th in the league and we didn’t win a single game he missed

I reckon we play le fee deeper and get a creative 10?
I’m thinking more a 4-3-3, similar to allardyce where he had a holder (khirchoff) then mvilla and cattermole pressing high. I think ELF will be class at that, looked brilliant from deep in the final.

can’t see us moving away from the 4-4-2 defensive shape.
