Danns is the profile I wanted

a physical presence. We do Liverpool right it’s good for deals. I thought he was absolutely ready for the championship and a lot of their fans were surprised he dropped that low. A low end prem team he’ll be a good option

it also allowed Mayenda, Isidor, and abdullahi to develop too. I like that signing a lot and it’ll be cheap whilst covering something we need

Can we make sure his back is sorted first. No good been in the treatment room all season again

Aye, and we carried almost the whole side over.

We were fortunate that second game we had Watford (I think) and got an early win.

Be nice to have a winnable home early like that to ‘arrive’ and calm the lads.
Bit of a tangent, but I remember the Watford players were complaining because Jeff Winter [he’s a smoggie ]was the referee and he was called all the Sunderland players by their first names. But you’re right could do with a middle of the table team 2nd game in, fear it’s going to be a Champions League qualifier the opening weekend, and it will be undoubtedly the opening Friday night game as well.

I’m considering the same thing. Needs to be the right move but want more balance and work to not dominate my life so much. At the very least enjoy it more.

Aye, weighed it up and honestly mate, doesn’t feel like we’ve cut down on anything really, more that everything was done to excess before.

We still eat out when we want, holiday when we want (couldn’t actually do that in previous jobs).

I’ll be stopping altogether at 52 when mortgages are finished. I refuse to accept we run ourselves into the ground for 65 years to hobble about our retirement.

You’ll find me on a cruise ship with a sweater wound my neck drinking Pina Colada at 11am at 55 <laugh>

What you said last ‘enjoy it more’ that was more valuable to me than an extra bit of money in bank.

Hardly left myself desolate mind, wasn’t exactly giving up luxury to live off the land.

Just one of them as you get older, you spend less ‘day to day’ and are more focused on other things.

We have properties and that now but I was killing myself to essentially pile up money that I was too exhausted to spend.

Now do my 37.5 hours (instead of 60 plus…) and don’t work weekend or bank holidays. Time with my missus and dog.

It’s balance ain’t it. I mean I ain’t gonna go to work for £12 an hour but I was done with being ridden like a horse.

Feel younger; feel healthier, feel more relaxed.

Would I have taken Saudi money in my youth when I was building? I have to say I’d have considered it, I may well have done a Hendo. Got there and thought ‘**** this’.

You do reach a beautiful mindset when you have your life. Your lads, your lass, your dog, your family and that’s all that matters.

If you change your mind I've got a couple of chickens to start you off. One of them is a rooster with a proper Napoleon complex.

Also considering some sheep if the problems with wild dogs round here calm the **** down.

Brentford losing their number 1

Big challenge for Brentford this summer it seems, may be the first time their squad is dissembled with Mbuemo possibly away too. Not saying they’ll struggle but they’ll need to adapt

I absolutely wouldn’t. Was offered a salary 30 odd years ago that I’ve only just reached now but turned it down because the company had morals lower than a rattlesnakes belly. No regrets whatsoever.

I've did similar. I was press ganged into working in the Middle East a long time ago as it happens. Long story not worth telling, but with a bit more experience would have told them , despite the money, to shove it, which is what I later did.

They seem to manage mind. They've been shedding good players for years and handling it well. But maybe their time will come.

Have they? I can only think of Ivan Toney who they’ve lost in recent time - compared to say Brighton who’ve been stripped of MacAllister, Caicedo, potter, de zerbi etc etc
