Still, survival would’ve been so much better. I hope we get the balance of signings right

Correct. But in our current situation as a newly promoted team, adding Championship players to a Championship squad is just asking to go back down, look at Ipswich.

The ones that have been a success have nearly all been added to teams already secure at the level. Palace with Olise, Eze and Wharton, Villa with Rogers, Bournemouth with Semenyo and Tavernier. Missing loads more. But they all went to clubs not really fighting relegation.

Ipswich signed arguably some of the best Championship players in Clarke, Szmodics, Greaves and more but they signed way too many at the same time and didn't supplement the squad with top quality players. Plus the fees are extremely extortionate compared to what you could pay shopping abroad.

Not saying we shouldn't do it but you need to be extremely careful.

Quentin Merlin a slightly surprising target, obviously easier to get than Melvin Bard or one of the other French fullbacks but feels a weird fit.

Carries the ball well up the flank and has a decent cross but not great defensively when I've watched them and struggles to beat his man.

Bard is slow isn’t he? Is he the Nice one?

Massive problem for PL

Lille have a cracking set of wing backs like, and Monaco have a raw young one Ouattara who is rapid.

Not rapid but not slow and wins basically every 50/50, he's a rank.

Merlin is fine im just slightly concerned about him defensively should he sign.

Yeah I did really like Santos, unfortunate ACL has had him out for an age.

Don't think gudmundsson is out of reach but can see more appeal to Merlin.
