I think one of the players who most impressed me from the Championship this season was Ben Doak at Boro. I wonder if there’s any chance of getting him on loan this season. He’d be a serious upgrade on that right wing for us, and you’d think a move like that would suit Liverpool.
Not even loan, Liverpool happy to sell. They are after proper money for him though. He is a proper talent. Could we get someone like Jacob Ramsey? Doesn’t play every week. Might be a reach like.
Weak link defensively. Availability aside, cirkin is much better and will be better at PL level watch where burrows puts himself for our first at Wembley
No way we go for Hamer. We all know he’s a lovely player but as Scout and several others have stated he’s dog **** out of possession and we’d get absolutely shredded with him in the side.
I mean, only shop at the very top end maybe. But there are young lads, unfinished who will get there. Burrows for me is a prime example.
Hamer not for me… incredible talent and starts a game like a house on fire, but fades very quick to a point that noticeable… I also think he’s a couple of stone overweight
I think it would be an unbelievable signing tbh. He's a captain, leader and would be fantastic to have at the club. Maybe his legs have gone but the fact the England manager picks him says a lot for me. He made a stupid decision going to Saudi and it was pretty obvious, pretty quickly, that he regretted it. Let's not hold that against him, please. He's been a fantastic ambassador and player for many years and that doesn't change it for me.
Palace have made a fine art of taking young players from the Championship and turning them into top level talents. There are plenty of gems to be had if a club is switched on. Players like Hamer are exactly the wrong sort of signing from the Championship though, I agree. Same for the likes of Borja Sainz who’ve I’ve seen linked with a lot of moves already. Harrison Burrows, Hayden Hackney, Tom Fellows, or even Callum Doyle are all Championship players from this season I wouldn’t mind us taking a punt on.
It’s balance though, we can’t afford 6 PL ready baked players. We can likely grab 3 and 3 or 4 ‘need some polish’ though.
At some point aye, if we survive we can afford to pick up a couple of players who might become good premier league players. First aim is just to stay up
Only Egan-Riley, Trafford and Rudoni have massively impressed me in the Championship this year mind. Solomon as well but he’s a Spurs player. Not a bad shout actually if Spurs wanna move him on.
Just want to add to this. I think shopping in the Championship/EFL can be very rewarding IF you get it right. As a newly promoted team we can't add Championship players to a Championship squad and expect to stay up, that's where Ipswich went wrong. One or two this summer would be fine as long as they are supplemented with top level talent. Palace have had great success shopping in the Championship, Wharton, Eze, Olise just off the top of my head. But they were successful because they weren't signed with the expectation that they would instantly improve their team. They were added to a squad that was already PL standard and were given time to grow.
