Probably because he would have ended up going for less considering his contract would have been in its final year

Not at all this could have been announced after our last game of this season. Its shyte timing and a kick in the teeth for the club, fams and players that once called him a team mate

I think Brighton announced prior to us, we'll I saw their announcement before ours.
Not a lot you can do after that.
Surprised it was announced though.

A gentleman's agreement should have been agreed and thats down to Speakman and Watson out of respect to all involved

That's usually the case.
There may even have been one.
It's just very unusual for deals such as this to be announced at this point.
The point being we don't know what has happened here to cause this announcement.

Yeah but either way it was avoidable and disrespectful to club, player and fans

I'm not sure that it was but I am sure that in time we will find out what actually happened. Though by then we probably won't be bothered, too much.
I think we can accept that there will be any number of deals agreed outside of the transfer window that we never hear about until the window opens. Something must have happened for both clubs to feel the need to make the announcement now though I've absolutely no idea what that could be.

Shame of course but a good fee and 20% of Brighton sales fee would be a decent add on. He could have a high ceiling but we’ll barely miss him at the same time and less interference at the club from that bell end Harte.

What happens if, for example, he breaks a leg or has some other serious injury.
Is the deal still on or will Brighton pull out.

If he’s definitely gone, fit or injured, maybe play him but otherwise, better safe than sorry, don’t play him.
I doubt his commitment to us now and unless Mundle is injured, leave Tommy out of the squad.

At a guess id say he's theirs now and we wont see him again

That'll do nicely, I never thought Watson looked happy at Sunderland and certainly didn't on Saturday ...

... I wouldn't play him again tbh.

Under Donald we'd have accepted half that price, we're in very good hands.

The club have played a blinder here imo. They've held out for good money and a healthy sell-on clause for a squad player who, in complete contrast to Chris Rigg, has indicated that he wants to move on and jump ship at the first sign of big money.

A lot of fans gave Darren Bent pelters for moving to Villa, chanting "There's only one greedy bastard". I think Watson's behaviour is actually worse, as he's a local lad who we've developed and he's not even prepared to stick around long enough to see which league we'll be in next season, before making a decision.

I'm sure we'll use the money wisely to strengthen the squad and award higher contracts to people like Rigg, Cirkin and Neil, whose feet aren't so itchy. I'm with Smug on this one. I don't want players playing for us who don't want to be here. Unless something happens to Mundle, I wouldn't play him.

Means nowt to me that mate. If i was him id also get a representative to write something nice like that too. Do you really think he wrote that?

Ive given my opinion now cant be arsed debating anymore. If he ever plays on the same pitch as us agin i hope its next season against Brighton. As far as Sunderland are concerned he's dead to me now.

Night night all.

Might forgive him if he scores the winner in the play off final:emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0105-wink:

You can't claim to know something that was pretty much common knowledge anyway, the only part of your post that was new information was the part about him not playing the last 5 games and based upon his instagram post that's a load of ****e.
It was common knowledge since January that the deal would always be done.
Still convinced he ends up at Old Trafford.
would eat my hat

I could understand if he gave the club 50 games or so. At least a full season of effort and graft. The fact is, he was never signing a contract from day one. Getting advise from his agent, Harte and Danny Fecking Graham has completely done him in and he has chased the coin. Jumped at the first hurdle and forced the clubs hand. Not an ounce of loyalty or appreciation for.the club that's sorted him from a young boy. Just rehabilitated him from a serious injury too.

Can do one.
