Heard a little rumour today that Mepham has been dropped because he's verbally agreed a deal with Leeds, may be bollocks but no need to not believe the lad just thought I'd share.

Bournemouth have the option to extend his contract by a year so I don't see how he would be even free to negotiate with another club.

Think Patterson will be on the move, promotion or not

I'm not sure we'll get a good offer for him. If we're still in the Championship and we think Young is still a year away, then we'll probably keep Patto.

I'd be tempted to just play Young no matter what and go through the radical progression pathway; but we've seen that fans didn't like us doing that with Neil, Jobe and now Rigg so I'm not sure it's the right move for a keeper.

Nixon reckons we’ll target Edwards again if promoted and Burnley aren’t

Not reading too much into that as Burnley have a much better chance of promotion.

Jobe, Rigg and maybe Neil are the only ones I can realistically see leaving if we stay down

Funny enough Burnley just posted BTS of that deal and it seems like we were offering more than they could and Scott Parker coaching a young edwards during his coaching badges is literally what made him go there

tbh i think we'll look to move Patterson on and let Young come in and progress. Thats IF we dont get promoted.

Patterson is an excellent shot stopper.

Why can our goalkeeper coaches not help to get the other aspects of his game up to a better standard.

Kicking.
Can they put a target circle, about 6 feet diameter, about halfway in the opposition half near the touchline and have him spend a few hours a day simply kicking to get the ball to land in the circle. Surely after many hours of doing this he will be able to get his kicks right during the game.

Get the ball out quicker.
Instead of farting about at the back get the ball out as soon as possible. Other players need to make themselves available quicker to help him out.

Coming for the ball in set pieces.
Just tell him to go for the ball when it’s coming in within say 10 feet or so of him and to go through anybody in his way.

Keeping quiet.
Get somebody who can tell him to be much more vocal and to shout at the defenders “MY BALL” and the like. Give him the confidence to make the penalty area his own. I’m sure he’s not a shrinking violet so get him telt. Give him a pound of raw steak to eat just before the game or summat.

We surely have some goalkeeping coaches so why are they not improving the poor parts of his game.
If they are trying their hardest but he’s not responding then get rid.

He’s got the makings of a good keeper but is he being coached poorly?
We shouldn’t give up on him.

Shame. He’s started really well there and would’ve been a much better option than Roberts for us

Sounds pretty easy building the perfect keeper but I reckon there's hundreds of goalkeeping coaches teaching thousands of goalkeepers in England and there aren't too many perfect keepers out there.

Well I reckon a lot of coaches are going to be targeting Patto in games now and they will be firing corners in right under the bar. Hope our coaches are working with Patto to help him deal with this.

He cannot agree any deals with clubs in this country until 30th June - he can't sign anything anyway. In any case, Bournemouth have an option to extend his contract, so likely that he wouldn't be able to talk to anyone home or abroad as technically he'll still be under contract until 30th June 2026

Agreed. I think RLB will want a more continental style keeper who is good with his feet

I just hope he doesn't go for his big pal Meslier....
The frustration I have with him is that there are times when he looks genuinely excellent with the ball at his feet. He's basically two footed and he can spot and execute passes that many keepers simply can't. Can't remember which game it was recently (maybe the Luton one) but he hit a pass out to the wide area that was the equal of one of Luke's best switches. However, alongside that there are plenty of times when he is FAR too casual with the ball, alongside the times where his execution is way off. I still maintain there's all the ingredients of a top class keeper. It's up to Patta to make sure he maximises his potential.
