Might end up a bad look for us if we go for r a 1st choice keeper and have to back track

If Bulka signs then great, as I really rate him but if he's chosen to go to Saudi instead then he's the exact type we don't want

We will have other options that we are looking at as well, Bulka won't have been the only GK we are looking at

Reinaldo is a very solid pick up, has played in a disciplined side and has the pace n versatility we want in defenders

Just asked ChatGPT who we should sign if Bulka chooses Saudi :D

If Marcin Bulka heads to Saudi, Sunderland will need a reliable goalkeeper—either on a budget or with some higher-end pedigree. Here’s a breakdown of strong options:

Free‑agent / Budget options

  • Angus Gunn (Norwich) – A 29‑year‑old Scotland international, out of contract this summer. He’s a good Championship-level keeper with Premier League experience and could be signed without a transfer fee .
  • Finn Dahmen (Augsburg) – Solid Bundesliga performer (11 clean sheets last season). More ambitious and would likely cost a fee given he’s contracted until 2027 .
  • Asmir Begović – Veteran free agent (37) last with Everton. Depth option or mentor figure, but unlikely to command the No. 1 role long term .
  • Fraser Forster / Łukasz Fabiański – Experienced Premier League keepers available on free transfers, though both are 37/40 and nearing the end of their careers .

⚽ Proven names / higher‑level targets

  • Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa) – A top-level stopper, reportedly available amid contract pressures. Big upgrade but likely expensive and challenging to attract ().
  • Djorde Petrovic (Chelsea/Strasbourg) – Highly rated on loan in Ligue 1. Could be attainable via loan or sale if Sunderland take a gamble ().

Mr GPT has had a nightmare here

I think it was missed in here but the guardian actually reported on us being in for Reinildo within the Calvert Lewin story.

“Meanwhile, Sunderland are working on a deal to sign Reinildo Mandava on a free transfer upon the expiration of his Atlético Madrid contract, as they prepare for life back in the Premier League. It is understood Sunderland have offered him a two-year deal worth £65,000 per week.”

Forgot he's at the WCC. I guess he'll have an extended break and join back a bit later as a result.

I'm really intrigued to see how Chelsea and Man City manage their preseason with their involvement in this, their last game of this season could be on the same day as our first game of preseason for next season!

yeh and it’s occurred to me that even tho he’s not played so much, Reinildo will likely start pre season late so may well start as back up to Cirkin. Which is probably fair and allows Cirkin a chance to prove himself

I still think it’s likely we sign Bulka. Latest that got acknowledged by Fabrizio was that both clubs have had fees agreed and it’s down to Bulka

I’ve got everything crossed. As not only will it mean we have a truly class keeper but will also mean he’s a great guy who rejected Saudi
