Absolutely. We need to find the best way to get a decent return on our investment. A lot of people don't consider all the effort that goes in.

We have to remember that every player, from Alese to Cirkin to Mayenda to Hume to Huggins etc, all start off with a recommendation or a scout picking up on something. After that there’s endless scouting, data checks, background reports, etc. Then comes the contract and so it goes on.

It’s not ‘Fantasy Football’ where you can just swipe left and eradicate a player from the club.

I wonder what the combined value would be of all the players we've ‘written off’ …

… Jobe, Watson, Mayenda, Hume, Clarke and the rest

Easily over £100m in my opinion, patience isn’t always a bad virtue.

Missed a bit of today. Am I right in saying Lucumi’s looking probably ? The Leicester lad less so

Romano and Keith both say we've bid for Lucumi and Bologna don't want to sell. But he only has one year left on his deal and wants to join us.

Random journo says we've bid for Fatawu. Pingu says we haven't, but Northern Echo say we have.

Northern Echo also say we are confident on both.

Imagine having the busiest transfer window of all time and not even needing deadline day. That's what's somehow even more impressive than the fact we've brought in some incredible players. We've done it quickly, early and decisively.

Very impressive, given that West Ham, Brentford and dare I say Noocastle, will be scrambling round towards deadline day making some panic signings.

Can’t go off the Norther Echo unfortunately. Scott Wilson tends to put stories out there which have been reported on Twitter

Cheers. Northern Echo say anything. Lucumi doesn’t sound close yet then but sounds probable.

I think Lucumi is quite close.

We won’t have sent a bid if we didn’t get encouragement from the player and Bologna.

Player wants to come says Romano & Bologna have signed that replacement already. He’s only got a year left so they basically need to sell.

I think we get him within the next 72 hours.

I wouldn't suggest we should.

However Alese and Huggins are similar to O'Nien, Hume, etc. If the club believe they have the talent and attitude worthy of persevering it's by far the cheapest and simplest avenue to go down. Clearly, it has to be for the right reasons but ditching players too quickly can mean losing a Ballard, Mundle or Mayenda ...

... all three have been written off by supporters, at various points, but not by the club ... how much are they now worth combined.

What I suppose I'm saying is that we're not the best judges.
I get your point but only morons would have written off the three you mention. I think both alese and huggins have potential but don't see either as being prem ready and players we can rely on for at least a couple of years. They aren't kids either so it's time to move them on. The model was to buy young and develop them in championship and hopefully like Hume, mayenda and ballard they can make step up.Neither huggins or ballard is ready to step in to the premier league and we can't just hoard players. I don't think it's best for the players or club. We are now buying a better calibre of player with first team European experience and hopefully can develop into prem players.
Saturday was ****ing mint but let's not get carried away..west ham are bang average and there was nothing in game for an hour. We need to keep striving for better quality.

Should be alese not ballard
