Occasion clearly got to him. Could say the same for the Coventry home game. Poor, really poor

Let’s see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I think he’ll be away personally
I think he will be away too.

I dont think there is shame in the occasion getting to him. Imagine us in his position as fans. He cramped up badly as a result. You could see his disappointment in himself. I would bet he has learned from it and is a better player for it. Hope he is remembered for the mega contribution over 200 games, not the poor performance in 1.

Like it or link it, contract or no contract, the biggest issue with Dan now is it’s really tough to see regular game time, starts at least.

He deserves to play, and much as I’d like him to be around, it’s not gonna be good for his career.

The midfield 3 is the midfield 3, it’s Xhaka, Diarra and Enzo.

There is no shame in Dan missing out to that trio and it will never cheapen his role played in scaling 2 divisions.

I’d love to see him get a move to a high standard German or Italian club as he’d thrive in either of those leagues.

Eternal club legend, there’s worse things to be.
Something in my eye mate. Yes, an absolute club legend for me.

I do think we overestimate how much players will accept being more squad players now. I agree Neil deserves first team football. The last thing he has shown is a willingness to toss it off and not play. He has grafted his arse off to play. I think we might find similar with Ballard, Cirkin, Patto, Rigg, Mundle if they are suddenly subs in 60 ot 70% of the games. Rare to find players these days happy to be on the bench and ours have a taste of being on the pitch. Regis has a balance to find, and I would suggest his biggest challenge is going to be Rigg. If, as I suspect, Rigg comes back an absolute monster, he might well have to take a look at Le Fee or Diarra. Ha, that would be a selection meeting I would love to be in.

Aye I think Rigg continues to develop and plays himself into a role. Even if that’s ’sub 1’ and a lot of minutes.

Can see Ballard getting plenty game time. He’s ready for PL.

Was talking to a mate at work today, Mag season card holder for 30 odd years and he's one you can talk to. He says the feeling around the fans is one of "frustration", some starting to think the owners aren't what they say they are or what the fans thought would be happening.
What! No christiano Ronaldo kleeeeenin tha booots

Ballard interests me. I think he is prem ready too. Will 100% need pace alongside him I think. He can go chasing his man at times, but very much something he can cut out. Could easily be the next £20m outgoing next summer if all goes to plan.

Aye, not all CB in the PL are quick, one of 2 is enough.

I can actually see Dan and Trai being long term Sunderland players.

Fair enough mate. I am probably going to sound like I am dying in a ditch over Neil. I probably am. I doubt it was a sweetner myself. It just doesnt seem to be how KLD, Speakman and now Regis work. Everything seems to a very clear plan. We will probably never know.

Tbh I hope Neil leaves. I have been to much in love with him and his ability. I would like to keep my memory of him leading us out at Wembley as our local captain and as big a fan as any of us. I am not daft, I know Xhaka is much better. I dont really want to see him coming on here and there, or plugging afcon gaps. Just hope he goes abroad really, Everton or West Ham would mean him lining up against us and I would rather that not happen.
Don’t think West Ham or Everton would go in for him and give him more game time than we would he proved last season he is average at best yes I know he had about eight games where he looked class but the rest of the season? Too slow and one footed to make it as a top prem player in my opinion

The minority have spoken and he would be better of leaving.

He was soley blamed for slowing the whole team down on Saturday, he has that much influence he can make 10 other players slow down, yet doesnt influence the team to start or come off then bench.

We all know where this ends up, so best he goes off and develops into a solid midfielder
if DN is on the ball and slowing it down then the other 10 players have no choice
