Neil will be off if he doesn't sign a contract, that's what it comes down to for me

I wish the lad nothing but the best, I hope he stays but I agree with @FellTop id hate him to become a bit part players which I think he would become

I'm a huge fan of Neil but once Xhaka signs I think he will struggle for game time

If he does go he will go with nothing byt my best wishes
It wont matter anyway if he doesnt sign a new contract which seems very likely that he wont
To be fair it has absolutely nothing to do with the wishes of the supporters mate.

He's a pro-player who's either not wanted or refusing to sign a new contract.

Only he and the club know why, I just don't think he's doing himself any favours.

He had the chance to sign a contract in the Championship but, in my opinion, thought he'd be given a much better one this season in the PL ...

... unfortunately he's now way down the pecking order and the club has overtaken him.
I agree he hasn't helped himself at all with the contract situation and if he doesnt sign then the club have no choice but to sell him and quite right as well.

Just a shame how its going to end

It’s what Speakman said at the talk in last close season - sometimes the club will outgrow a player and sometimes the player will outgrow the club. With Dan Neil I think it’s the former

The minority have spoken and he would be better of leaving.

He was soley blamed for slowing the whole team down on Saturday, he has that much influence he can make 10 other players slow down, yet doesnt influence the team to start or come off then bench.

We all know where this ends up, so best he goes off and develops into a solid midfielder
He has divided some of the fans over time. I am too blinkered probably and way too defensive. But I love the kid. Only Rigg is better from our academy in the last god knows how long for me.

I have openly stated many times why football is so important to me. It is down to my love of football players. I get attached, have always done. I dont think I am wrong in that, it is how I enjoy the game. I also think football should allow some sentimentality, again I dont accept I am wrong, it is how I relate to football.

Being back in the premier league is brilliant. Delighted for the fans more than anything. The club are having a brilliant go at staying up. Fair play. Would I prefer a slightly different approach? Yes. But that isnt important really, the club surviving is. KLD has far more nous than me. I am just a soft old git who romanticises football and football players far too much.

Nothing wrong with that mate, after all if we fans cant big up and support our players then what hope do they have

Agree with your last line

I'm not sure hes let himself down tbh, suppose hard for us to judge that as we don't know what he's wanting from his contract/career

He's got to do what's right for him and we've got to do what's right for the club - i hoped that would mean a contract renewal (still hope he does sign)

I also don't think the club have given up on the policy that got us in the PL... what I do think, the step up is massive and we simply don't have the time to "bring on" a number of our players that potentially could make it. The number of players we have bought and will continue to buy pretty much underlines this...
Couldn't agree more

Was talking to a mate at work today, Mag season card holder for 30 odd years and he's one you can talk to. He says the feeling around the fans is one of "frustration", some starting to think the owners aren't what they say they are or what the fans thought would be happening.
Hate to talk about them on this thread but what makes me laugh is this notion about them not getting what they thought they would (ie buying titles and a load of world class talent). That shouldn’t have mattered when it came to the people they thought were paying for this have murdered innocents and are some of the worst human rights abusers on the planet.

But they protested for it none the less, celebrated it, bragged about it. I still think they’ll ultimately get their success, but it is nice to watch them squirm and try to rewrite history even if it’s for a little bit. Unluckily for them, the articles, the pictures, the videos will be there forever of how they went on for that takeover as shown by Oliver Holt yesterday.

Im sure he believes in himself as a player and a person.

Let's ne honest if they offered any of us the chance to captain the team to a Wembley victory we would snap their hands off.

For all his faults, he was and always will be one of our own

Shame he was awful at Wembley, thankfully dragged off. I think Neil is done here. Good luck to the lad if he moves on

I do try to bite my lip when folk say he could have signed. I am sure he could have, but only if he felt it was right for him. Maybe the two parties have differences of opinions, doesnt make either party right or wrong. Speculating on whether he didnt sign for whatever reasons isnt fair on him.

Totally, I've heard multiple things in regards to his contract situation and have no idea what the truth is - likely never well

You know I'm a big fan of his (not quite in the same bracket as yourself lol) and he's been a brilliant player for us. I do have some concerns that he might struggle to step up, but I'm like that with every player that hasn't played at that level before.

I just want him to have a cracking career, ideally with us but if not hope he goes and has a great career elsewhere

I know there was a german club interested in him 12 months ago but think they've kicked on now so probably wouldn't be interested

Cheers mate. Appreciate it.

I am 100% enjoying yours and others views by the way. Love the enthusiasm for the signings and potential signings. If you cant enjoy a pre season before the prem there is something wrong. I am enjoying things in my own way, honest.

I know 100% I am going to love watching Xhaka play. He is everything I admire. I completely excited by Diarra. I really think we have one there.

I coached for a long time, and therefore love watching players get better and better. Part of my hope was to watch Neil and Rigg and others shine this season. I am a believer in training to play, so maybe a bit grouchy about the talk of them being depth. That said, I reckon if you and I stood next to each other we would be kissing and hugging when any daft bugger scored <cheers>

Like it or lump it, contract or no contract, the biggest issue with Dan now is it’s really tough to see regular game time, starts at least.

He deserves to play, and much as I’d like him to be around, it’s not gonna be good for his career.

The midfield 3 is the midfield 3, it’s Xhaka, Diarra and Enzo.

There is no shame in Dan missing out to that trio and it will never cheapen his role played in scaling 2 divisions.

I’d love to see him get a move to a high standard German or Italian club as he’d thrive in either of those leagues.

Eternal club legend, there’s worse things to be.

Why do you think that was?
Occasion clearly got to him. Could say the same for the Coventry home game. Poor, really poor

Let’s see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I think he’ll be away personally
