Just to emphasise because I feel like a grumpy idiot. My underwhelm of Adingra was more about the make up of our squad than the player himself. I reckon I’m gonna end up loving him.

It’s genuinely quite impressive to find 5 good signings and them all be going to AFCON

I do wonder if there’s any sort of agreement or understanding with any of them that they won’t go
Losing them for a possible 5 games out of 4 seasons does not matter really especially we would probably lose the majority if they were here anyway

Think 5 wingers for the season being:
Roberts
Mundle
Tabli
Adingra
RW

Would want 3 natural wingers during afcon anyway and these type of explosive wide players are prone to injury so need serious depth.

We won't sell Mundle, obviously won't sell Talbi or Adingra and then Roberts is probably the only proper natural right winger so for balance and quality in depth we will imo sign a starting right winger to ensure we aren't playing players out of position yet again.

Go with me here, I think AFCON lasts 4-6 games depending how far the specific team goes in the tournament. Someone correct me if that's not right, how many starts do you think someone like Roberts or Mundle gets in a league season with 38 games, I'm just trying to look at the rotation angle and keeping squad players happy, I imagine it's going to be difficult to keep those players happy if they're starting less than 20 games.

I think if we were an established Premiership side I would be echoing what you're saying here but I almost struggle to believe we've the capacity to hold 5 first team wingers and successfully rotate and use them, and that's with it being a AFCON year.

Can they do that? I thought if called up the expectation was you'd be expected to attend ( injuries aside)

Surprised if people are underwhelmed with Adingra myself, not sure what profile people were hoping us to sign this summer?

23 years old, has 60 premier league appearances (most of them starts) for a team who finished 11th and 8th in the prem when he played. 8 games in the Europa League at 22. Man of the match in the AFCON final which his team won less than 2 years ago.

We're a newly promoted team and this was the kind of signing I was optimistically hoping we'd be trying to get done a month ago. Way better profile than Roberts or Mundle currently. Excited to see how he does, been chasing him since January.

Fwiw I think our fifth winger will be a loan. Got a feeling we’ll sign two more midfielders, one permanent and then same as above, a loan

Real mixed bag here - the closest thing to a consensus I would say is that it's a deal that's good for all parties (the player, Brighton and us).

Consensus generally pretty positive. All seem to think he will do well here.

"Feels like a good deal all round. We get a decent fee and make a solid profit on someone who will always only be a squad player while Mitoma is here, Adingra gets a move to a decent club and the opportunity to play regularly and Sunderland get a decent young player who has premier league experience, has won afcon and was young player of the tournament as well as man of the match in the final."

I think it’s 5 games if they go all the way, the 5th being Palace at home. The others include City and Spurs which likely we’ll take nout from anyway. Leeds at home which is massive and Brentford away which is a tricky fixture. If we lose them for 3 games and get them back for Brentford that’s not a bad scenario. They can’t all get to the final they’re from different nations
