Come back to me when you have to have Harry ****ing Winks and Moussa Sissoko as your starting midfielders for two whole seasons because Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama’s bodies broke, then when they left we signed a fat lazy **** and an Argentinian made of glass.

You can't complain this season mate ... an embarrassment of riches ...<laugh>

well since in the last 3 seasons Cags lowest number of appearances is 32 he is clearly a regular first teamer so no biggie then .

We were down to bare bones defensively for the first half ... but if you check out the stats after the injured players returned, Cags was mainly benched unless we made wholesale changes ... he really lost his mojo compared to the previous 2 seasons ... and a lot of that comes down to not having Evans calming influence and organisational skill alongside him...

As for Evans himself ... he made Harry Maguire look so good that we got £85 million for him <laugh>

Because we started last season without Evans, Fofana, Justin and Castagne, and didn't get the younger ones back until the last quarter of the season ... guess when our best run of form happened? ... these are arguably the first choice back 4 ... Harvey Barnes also started last season on the back of 2 knee ops and it took him some time to get back to his best ... we then lost Vardy to a hip op half way through ...

If we can keep the squad fit, there is no reason that we can't replicate performances of the same level as we had in the last quarter I.e. games where we had the first choice XI not where we made 8 changes (or more) to accommodate the European campaign ... that good run included beating Rennes and PSV and more than holding our own against Roma ... so... reasons to be cheerful <cheers>

Your squad is as weak as ours was last season...that's why your injuries wrecked you...unless you strengthen you will have another difficult season.

Clubs will be able to make 5 subs, will have 6 games minimum in October, have players in a world cup tournament, come back and have to hit the ground running and have a minimum of 6 games in April...this is on top of a shorter than normal pre season break. The 5 subs rule will require much stronger swuads to compete for European places imo.
Vardy is getting older and is dependent on explosive speed so is more at risk of muscular injuries, Evans is on the back end of his career and Schmeichel may be leaving and tielemans (if he stays) COULD (not will) be worried about getting stuck in if he is looking to leave.

If its true that you have to sell before you buy then you'll be simply replacing players rather than strengthening your squad.

We were able to field 2 pretty good teams in separate friendlies last weekend .. we've never had that strength in depth in my 50 years plus of watching ... <laugh>

We strengthened quite a bit last summer before the season but ended up patching holes rather than having a consistent team ... but as I said, everyone bar Ryan Bertrand is now fit and available ...

I'll not be disappointed if we start the season with the full squad we currently have ... obviously if we do lose some key players that will disrupt things considerably ... but I certainly am not buying into the doom mongering from certain sources ... particularly the ones with links to teams that would love to get their mits on our best players .. <cheers>

Speaking as a fan of the only team not to buy in a summer transfer window it's a very very bad idea!

Keepers (3 full internationals)
Kaspar Schmeichel
Danny Ward
Daniel Iversen
Jakub Stolarczk

Full backs / Wing backs
Ricardo Pereira
Timothy Castagne
Luke Thomas
James Justin
Ryan Bertrand

Centre backs
Jonny Evans
Wesley Fofana
Janick Vestergaard
Daniel Amartey
Caglar Soyuncu

Midfield
James Maddison
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Youri Telemans
Dennis Praet
Wilfrid Ndidi
Boubakary Samare
Marc Albrighton
Papys Mendy
Hamza Choudhry

Forwards
Jamie Vardy
Patson Daka
Harvey Barnes
Kelechi Iheanacho

Think all 4 of the forwards notched double figures last season ...

I'm rather happy with that lot ... and 2 of the best performers in pre-season, so far have been Praet and Soumare... the former spent the whole of last season on loan at Torino whilst the latter struggled with the pace of the Prem but looks much fitter now having had warm weather training in Dubai with the recovering fro op Wilf Ndidi even before the players came back in ... Vestergaard also looks much trimmer and sharper...

So to reiterate ... I'm quite happy with that squad <cheers>

I know mate ... thanks for sharing ... but more suited to the comedy gifs thread perhaps? ... certainly the funniest thing to come out of Tyneside since Ant and Dec ... oh how we've laughed ...

.... don't be too disappointed if Madders signs the new improved contract being prepared following his particularly impressive last season ...

Gotta feel sorry for your fans tbf ... rather cruel for the management to announce interst in top players, then put in comedy bids with no chance of success ... so cruel ... but funny for other fans ... like we'd sell Madders for Joe Linton money <laugh>

PS ... the 'bid' has, not surprisingly, been rejected ...

It's coming.

Did you miss the part where it says the player wants it .

Maddison has always dreamed of setting them up for Chris Wood. I'm sure he's chomping at the bit to get there.

It is very funny ... apparently Tielemans has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, Fofana has agreed personal terms with Chelsea (despite being contracted until 2027) and Maddison has with Tottenham / Newcastle ... yet the club has said there has been no contact for any of our players ... and without that, approaches directly to players would constitute an illegal approach...

Almost every article contains the word 'reportedly' ... now OK, it might be that there is no smoke without fire ... but when players have really wanted to go (Mahez) or the club has had a formal enquiry (Maguire) ...you don't see 'reportedly' ...

Now I could see us selling Youri Tielemans if he is determined to go, given the contract situation ... but we won't be selling Maddison and Fofana ... there is absolutely no need ... why sell 2 cracking players in order to get money to buy 2 that are unlikely to be as good? Makes absolutely no sense.

What will be interesting will be the starting line-up against Sevilla tomorrow ... that should be a dress rehearsal for next week's league opener ... barring injuries.

<laugh> ... well unless it starts with £100, you'll be pissing in the wind ... stick to pound shop trolley dash types Chaos ... not proven Premiership trophy winners from more successful Premier League clubs <cheers>

Much less because you're in financial trouble with FFP.

So they say Munse ... you'd have thought we'd be desperate to sell <laugh> ... if we're in trouble Munse, so is most of the Prem... plenty spend much more than we do ...

... and you don't rectify that by selling off your best assets at cut price <doh>
