They want 60, but he's not worth that, so newcastle will go elsewhere.

    Newcastle's net spend in 2022 is £160m.

Realistically if they sign one more player of around Maddison's worth, it would be £200m in the first year.

Mike Ashley's average net spend per year at Newcastle was £9.3m

Newcastle made a bit over £10m.

Any previous debt was bought out during the takeover

Ignoring Captain Confused and his fellow numpties for the purposes of a proper discussion ... currently there are 2 rather uniquely talented attacking English centre mids ... Grealish and Maddison (Madison's stats - goals and assists are probably better) ... there are others who are excellent players in that area, like Mason Mount for instance, but they don't quite have that X factor that means their guile and unpredictability lead to them drawing fouls continuously...

Citeh set the bar, price wise, for such prodigious talent with the £100 million for Grealish ... if we were going to sell Maddison, we'd be looking for something very similar ... and probably to a team with realistic CL ambitions ... not likely to a team for which a good run in the Carabou cup would be progress <laugh>

£85m for Maguire ... £100m for Grealish ... and how much did you spunk on a keeper? ... not to mention what you managed to sell a very average Brazilian to Barcelona for ... I may be on crack ... but I don't wear cheap plastic red tinted armchair specs <laugh>

You're a mental midget when it comes to football, can't have a chat with people about the game without putting on an egotistical and defensive front. Relentless bollocks.

If you want a genuine opinion about this bid, it's clearly just testing the water. But I don't see a point in us buying him, especially if it entails entering a bidding war with you're lot. I don't doubt for a minute that 60m would become 80 and then some. It's pointless. I don't think it's a position we are in desperate need of filling, nor do I believe Leicester are in desperate need to sell.

Newcastle have facilities from the early 90s that need desperate improvement before we start signing Grealishesque players who can completely flop for £100m. The club rotted under Ashley.

<laugh> I've forgotten more about football than you'll ever know ... and been to more live games than Sucky will ever manage, even if he gets a season ticket for the next 25 years ... I also played a bit in my time.

Have never been anything but realistic about my club ... which I still am now ... when they took over, our owners did a debt equity swap which effectively converted external borrowings into share capital (and wiped out the debt).. whilst I haven't looked at the club balance sheet recently, doing something similar is not beyond the realms of possibility, should it be necessary and the owners are still committed - which they say they are - and which the recently submitted stadium area development planning application supports.

PS I work in the financial sector.

Ashley never spent 150 million (so far) never mind not selling our best players.
