They want 60, but he's not worth that, so newcastle will go elsewhere.

<laugh> you can't afford him ...and we wouldn't sell ...

...most goals and assists combined of any Prem player last season ... in an up and down season for us ... there is a reaspn why Spurs might want him ... and wby that might interest him ... but you lot? ... get real and stick to your level ... the Dwight McNeils etc <cheers>

but you have billions and billions, I thought you were going to be buying everyone, instead you seem to have Ashley levels of spending.

Newcastle's net spend in 2022 is £160m.

Realistically if they sign one more player of around Maddison's worth, it would be £200m in the first year.

Mike Ashley's average net spend per year at Newcastle was £9.3m

Ignoring Captain Confused and his fellow numpties for the purposes of a proper discussion ... currently there are 2 rather uniquely talented attacking English centre mids ... Grealish and Maddison (Madison's stats - goals and assists are probably better) ... there are others who are excellent players in that area, like Mason Mount for instance, but they don't quite have that X factor that means their guile and unpredictability lead to them drawing fouls continuously...

Citeh set the bar, price wise, for such prodigious talent with the £100 million for Grealish ... if we were going to sell Maddison, we'd be looking for something very similar ... and probably to a team with realistic CL ambitions ... not likely to a team for which a good run in the Carabou cup would be progress <laugh>

100m for maddison

You're on crack <laugh>

£85m for Maguire ... £100m for Grealish ... and how much did you spunk on a keeper? ... not to mention what you managed to sell a very average Brazilian to Barcelona for ... I may be on crack ... but I don't wear cheap plastic red tinted armchair specs <laugh>

Excellent ... enough for a bargain basement buy ...<laugh>

You're a mental midget when it comes to football, can't have a chat with people about the game without putting on an egotistical and defensive front. Relentless bollocks.

If you want a genuine opinion about this bid, it's clearly just testing the water. But I don't see a point in us buying him, especially if it entails entering a bidding war with you're lot. I don't doubt for a minute that 60m would become 80 and then some. It's pointless. I don't think it's a position we are in desperate need of filling, nor do I believe Leicester are in desperate need to sell.

Newcastle have facilities from the early 90s that need desperate improvement before we start signing Grealishesque players who can completely flop for £100m. The club rotted under Ashley.

<laugh> I've forgotten more about football than you'll ever know ... and been to more live games than Sucky will ever manage, even if he gets a season ticket for the next 25 years ... I also played a bit in my time.

Have never been anything but realistic about my club ... which I still am now ... when they took over, our owners did a debt equity swap which effectively converted external borrowings into share capital (and wiped out the debt).. whilst I haven't looked at the club balance sheet recently, doing something similar is not beyond the realms of possibility, should it be necessary and the owners are still committed - which they say they are - and which the recently submitted stadium area development planning application supports.

PS I work in the financial sector.

Anyway girls, been fun but off to get some beers in to watch who takes over from us as Community Shield holders this season ... I'll keep an eye out for Sucky during the game ...

....if there's a DFS advert on at half time, that is <laugh>

Ashley never spent 150 million (so far) never mind not selling our best players.
