PIFs spending indicates to me that if FFP wasn't a thing they would be spending unbelievable amounts of money Outside of players, haven't they spent easily over 500m in all areas of the club already?
I wonder whether they truly realised just how tough it would be with FFP and the key factor of generating much higher revenues to enable more spending. Just hope PIF don't get bored of the project themselves if they are not allowed to just throw money at it. I know they said it's a long term plan, but I expect they really want to see success soon.
It's pretty enjoyable really. I mean, Tonali is a signing that I really wouldn't have expected us to be able to achieve this early. It means that I can see us leave a player as good as Maddison and remain relaxed. Look forward to each signing and trust they will be good... The only one that has slightly disappointed me was Wood. Gordon to a lesser extent, but only because it seemer a bit of an overspend with ffp always in mind.
They'll have known exactly what it meant. Very clever business people. Will have planned every phase of this ownership and are here to stay for a long while.
I don't think they will get bored per se, but eventually you will see a transition like we saw at City. One day, NUFC's chairman will be some Saudi businessman who works at PIF and manages a designated amount of funds to operate the football club, funds that even if its a minuscule fraction of the wealth fund, will be more than 99% of clubs have available. Al-Rumayyan has attended a surprising number of games though.
I bet he does well for Arteta. There is a player there but Chelsea have been all over the shop recently. Seems a tricky place to be for a young player.
What's "good luck to him" got to do with it?? You're now supposed to hate him as he doesn't play for us. Soft southerner has just lost the plot. Are you a football fan or what?
