what we don't need is the club to spend the next 3/4/5 weeks pi55ing about appointing someone else.....
If he has indeed gone for talks then he’s done here either way, we all know that as a fan base respect and loyalty is massive.
My brain thinking he was never intended long term, and have the owners already got an eye on someone but weren’t in a position to move him on with the goodwill of the support?

There can’t hold the club to ransom
However is that the way forward offer him a big rise and a long contract

That doesn't make sense. There'd be no point in having a year if there was no protection for the club and the manager.
If he wasnt happy with it then dont sign the contract - pretty simple.
I hate all this having a go at speakman, hes totally helped change the direction of our club.

That was the point don't commit so if he didn't work out no pay off for him. But as soon as he got in the playoffs a new deal should have been thrashed out.
A rolling contract isn’t like a normal contract.
There’s likely no payout either way.
They can shove the press conference up their arse aswell, not interested 0-3 defeat tomorrow then dick about scraping the barrel for a replacement, good job Netflix are here for it again, comedy ****ing gold

Neil said he was happy with the contract because if he said he’s unhappy he’d look like a tool.. maybe he was desperate for the job so took it on the basis thinking he’d get a better contract if he won promotion?

So… He takes training in Sunderland this morning, probably finish around 11-12? Then he goes for talks with Stoke, then he’s back in Sunderland for a press conference at 2?
