Always thought O9 played his best for us at centre half with Sanderson. He was excellent for most of his games there, and not bad at right back either. Better at both than in midfield IMO, as both of those positions suited his tenacity and willingness to run all day.

Quite agree with that he needs a position which suit him and like Goochie AN see him as versatile. I like the lad but needs upgrading for midfield if l'm honest.

I don’t particularly rate O’Nien, especially in midfield but his versatility (can play right across the back line), will be vital to us across a long season. I don’t want rid, yet.
I'm not a fan of "squad players" which is what I think you are essentially alluding to. I think every player in the squad (and every signing we make) has to be able to impact the 1st team. I wouldn't be keeping O9 just because he can fill in all over the pitch - he's either good enough, or he's not. FWIW I think he could be a sold Championship level RB but he will never be a midfielder as long as he has a hole in his arse

All of our players deserve some time to readjust to the level they’re playing. I’m convinced that some unexpected will step up and some expected will struggle. There were a few ‘Gooch ffs’ comments and he did well. So let’s see. What we do need ideally are a couple more tried and tested players at this level but not sure if our budget allows it.
Agree the championship is probably the 5/6th best league in europe

I said about 2 weeks ago he was not coming back, and he is still not unless he drops his daft wage plan.

I suspect you have good insight.

If there was not a stumbling block, which as you say is likely to be money. Either, him his agent (or both) digging his heels in. He would be here now.

I would hope we had other striking irons in the fire. We now have a Stewart sub, we need a couple of fast box poachers to complement them.

Personally I like Broadhead, but if he is playing silly buggers, with his injury record... move on.
