You’re right about City’s thoughts on Delap, they’ve just declined a very good offer from Southampton and clearly see him one for the future. He’s really liked by us fans as well and we want to see more of him.
Having said that despite him playing a few times for the first team and doing really well I can’t see him getting much of a chance in the first team this season after the signing of two out and out strikers.
Personally I’d love it if Sunderland could have him on loan for a year or two and it would be as funny as **** if he experienced the joy of promotion whilst with you. (We will want him back after that though!)
So as you say, come on Marwood.
I think @Bob the Mackem said Marwood was working on a deal with us or words similar. Maybe that’s something else of course but he knows Marwood

I certainly think our style of play would suit him. He would be a brilliant signing if it happened, but I must say I have no idea if it is even a remote possibility. I am just dreaming about it.

I posted before Wembley that I'd been told we would, if promoted, go for five PL players including loans. I don't recall where that currently stands but it seems to be going in he right direction. From what I've seen we're not scared of spending and paying wages for the right player. I'd guess we're now at a stage whereby someone like Diamond/O'Nien will be sold if our targets sign. Bringing Ballard in didn't necessitate a departure but we couldn't lose O'Nien unless we have an upgrade. I'd prefer Broadhead, than a 'stranger' as he's obviously comfortable with the other players.

But we definitely need a couple of good quality players in goal and up front imo.
Do you think the club could have hinted this to O9, hence his poor performance yesterday? Didn't see the match so maybe clutching at straws here like...

The Championship would be ideal for his growth and what better team to go to with as you say the style you have and the support at the SOL.
Kompany may have a go at him for Burnley but Delap hasn’t got 6 fingers.

No one could possibly know that, certainly couldn't prove or disprove the claim.

Some people just have a downer on Speakman they can't shake off imo.
I admit to still have lingering doubts about him mate. All related to Keane and Defoe. Somebody had stars in their eyes for a few weeks for sure. In my opinion neither should have been given any consideration at all. Everything else since he bas been here - spot on. I just have a worry about him being prone to a bit of silly season.

To be fair, we have no far down the line it was with Keane, other than people on social media saying it was done, when it wasn't. Defoe most fans seem to want, but it never worked out

I think the point about fans wanting Defoe is sort of why I have a lingering doubt. Johnson clearly didnt want him, I was certainly bang against it and others were too. He hadnt played any serious football in 2 years and in reality was never going to be able to. It is the job of those in charge to make informed and rational decisions. Then to walk away like he did was an insult. Maybe Speakman was under pressure to do the deal from above? But to me it was very naieve and I hope people have learned from it.
