Balancing act mate but momentum is key. 1 month includes a lot of games. If it's doom and gloom and we lose the positivity early, it can set the stall out for the season.
That's my one reservation on what I said, we lose that early momentum, find ourselves flailing and with a crowd base on edge then it suddenly becomes harder to attract those targets you were holding out for.
Man City rate this lad massively, and rightly so. I dont see them selling him at all. The decision is whether he gets game time at City, which he might with 5 subs, or whether they let him have a seasom away somewhere. I would suggest if it is a loan we would be in with a good shout because of the way we play, which is similar to theirs across all levels. Marwood would be a key player. If he we were to land here, he would be pushing for Stewarts place quickly.
You make some good points about us having a chance, I didn't think about our relationship but more importantly City are shrewd and will not see any point of sending him out to a team fighting relegation and playing defensive football.
Amongst some of the panic yesterday I did say i was convinced we'll get what we need. I'd much rather lose a couple of meaningless friendlies and see the correct and actual state of the squad, warts and all, than go and win spectacularly and paper over some cracks that inevitably get exposed in the league once the window is shut. We have five weeks until the window does close, with loans available and some only moving later in the window I wouldn't be shocked at all to see us get five or more in.
It doesn't necessarily set out the stall for the season, you could lose to be first 4 games and still turn your form around. But I ideally we want the players in asap
If this article is correct and he makes his decision on game time, I think it would rule us out of signing him https://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-new...es-submit-loan-offers-for-spurs-troy-parrott/
Has Ross signed. Maybe Parrott & Broadhead both come in and Ross buggers off. An unlikely scenario granted but possible.
Tell you what, one thing I’ve noticed when I see people arguing about if our squad has improved is that nobody mentions the fact that certain players hadn’t played much football before last season. Going into the new season off the back of regular football last season will be massive for them, they’ll be much sharper.
Agree cpuple decent additions.....although understand some caution i see no reason why a hungry talented group of young players with couple older heads & a manager who has tacktical nowse cant push for the playoffs....thats my hope...if we fall short but are still making progress in all areas as a club so be it
You’re right about City’s thoughts on Delap, they’ve just declined a very good offer from Southampton and clearly see him one for the future. He’s really liked by us fans as well and we want to see more of him. Having said that despite him playing a few times for the first team and doing really well I can’t see him getting much of a chance in the first team this season after the signing of two out and out strikers. Personally I’d love it if Sunderland could have him on loan for a year or two and it would be as funny as **** if he experienced the joy of promotion whilst with you. (We will want him back after that though!) So as you say, come on Marwood.
