I wonder if we hear Broadheads side of the story. I even wonder if he spoke to Alex Neil and said your two existing forwards look better than me and I want to start. I would doubt if very much, but we will probably never know. A world cup year often makes players make odd decisions on where they play. You can bet Rob Page has set some expectations on him before he can be picked, and Wigan have made some promises. Interesting that he was ok to come to us on a perm, but gone to Wigan on a loan. Probably quite ruthless on his part and he gets his free agent signing on bonus somewhere next year, maybe even here. Some may say he has bottled it, or not up for the fight, others may think this is a sign of an ambitious player in a world cup year who is selfish and backs himself to make the grade over his career. At least we know the club were keen to get him, and they know a quality player when they see one, I was worried they were walking away for some soft reason or another. Good luck to him, he can come here on a free next season for me, no problem.

You always put things very eloquently, and I respect that, but if we're were so close to signing him on a permanent, one foot in the door, then changes his mind because his mate lashes two goals in, then he mustn't be the type of player we need. Thoes 3 on the books, trying to outscore each other would have been the best for all parties. Alas he has chosen Wigan over us and that's fair enough, as for him coming here in the future, mud sticks unfortunately. I think his potential ship here has sailed. Once again, I respect your opinion though.

I thought/hoped that people had a better understanding of mental health and how difficult it can be for some people nowadays.

It’s so disappointing to me to see all the comments about Broadhead and his apparent anxieties, lack of self belief and confidence being described as ‘pathetic’, ‘weak’ and ‘bottling it’.

I would have loved him here mate and at the end of the day it's his decision and I wish him well and will be grateful to him because I honestly believe without him last season we would still be in league one.
We will never know how far negotiations were but I think AN was expecting him to sign . It may well have coincided with the result at the weekend and it is just a case of Wigan were interested, he's probably going to make more appearances , closer to home and we can't forget its a loan so he will still be getting the wage he's on at Everton that to me is a list of good reasons why he would pick Wigan over us.
I wasn't having a go at the lad just picking up on what AN said, that may be a bit of sour grapes on his part if he thought he had him in the bag because if we had those 3 strikers on the books IMHO we would have had the deadliest strike force in the league
Not much to disagree with here think your spot on

Although I generally agree, if a player doesn’t have te belief in their ability to get selected in a side with only two to compete against, they’re best not here. Personally I think a permanent signing of Broadhead after his limited availability last season was an error of judgment anyway.

That’s fine. It’s some of the terminology (including from some people I know should know better) that I’d take umbrage with.

I agree, I’ve seen “heart of a pea” as well, the guy scored goals to take us to the championship for Christ’s sake.

We don’t even know what’s gone on for sure but if he didn’t have the self belief to try for a place and thought Wigan would be better for him then that’s fair enough.

He won’t play with a hamstring injury
You’re very bitter about this mate considering you say signing him permanently would be a mistake

Squads effectively gonna be picked in the next 6 weeks by Paige so he needs to play now.

He’s not the first footballer who’s arranged a move in order to secure a World Cup place and won’t be the last

It may be that Everton decided he wasn't going to drop his wage demands enough to make a permanent Championship move a feasible proposition, and ,having already loaned us Simms, took the offer from another club. For NB,he wants to further his chances with Wales by playing games....which he won't do if he stays at Goodison,....so agreed the loan.
:emoticon-0102-bigsm All guesswork on my part!

I’m not.I’m pointing out that the lack of games had been down to his body not the club he’s been at.

Of course it is, but is a mountain being made out of a molehill... all professional (and amateurs ) sport suffer from performance anxiety to a lesser or greater extent!

I was referring to the whole situation when I said "Pathetic" for how long it has dragged on for, not that Broadhead himself is. It was rumoured that it was just about done then at the 11th hour changed but after a 12 hour shift at that point I couldn't really be chewed to type all that out.Sometimes it can be forgotten how stuff comes across via text. As for mental health, personally I have been and am around it.
