Yeh - looks like the mechanics of the Dejaku deal are that Union Berlin are triggering the agreed 1m euro deal to sign him permanently, then immediately loaning him to us.

Perhaps Union are essentially calling Bayern's bluff here. If Bayern had agreed a 1m fee which they were forced to accept from Union, then Union could be signing him knowing / expecting to be able to sell him in a year for a profit.

So I don't think this rules us out of getting him permanently eventually.

I'd be expecting the keeper to be a starter at the very least, maybe Djaku will start on the bench initially. I'd be happy enough if we don't sign Alebiosu, Winch and Huggins should give us enough cover there.

My big concern with that is if Huggins and Cirkin get injured, we would have no recognised full backs. Also, if Evans gets injured, I would want The Winch in midfield to replace him.
I think we need another full back.

Times have changes marra, now players want the same number so they don't have to change their instagram account

I said this about 2 days ago, mate.about numbers meaning nothing because a few people were saying about how we have no number 7. I said Cirkin picking number 17 for a defender was odd in my eyes as the number 2 was seemingly available. Times have changed.

Yeah, I'm unsure if that one is going ahead as it's gone quiet. It would also take us up to 6 loan players, so one of the loan lads wouldn't make the first team squad on a matchday.
Does the limit of loan players in the matchday squad apply to domestic only, or are international loans included? Just have something at the back of my head that says it's domestic only

Who do we have on loan?

Doyle (Man City)
Alves (West Ham)
Broadhead (Everton)

So if these 3 signings today are all loans that takes us to 6 and possibly over the limit? Wonder if they might be tempted not to pursue the Arsenal lad in that case.

Cirkin was never going to take 2 as left backs don't do 2 - that's right back. And we were saving 2 for our right back.

Clearly you shouldn't read TOO MUCH into squad numbers, but you absolutely can read SOMETHING into them.

I guess we still don't know where Hume is going too so I can see that, but that sounds like a lot of injuries to happen at once, so that would be pretty unfortunate.

Wolves' keeper ewears No.11. Utter madness

I'd love to see a return to 1-11 - but only with all the player in the proper positions - none of this No.3 at Centre Back or No.11 up front.

it should always be:

1
2 5 6 3
7 8 4 11
9 10

Out of interest, anyone know why 4 is in midfield, and not 6. Likewise 9 and 11.

I agree, that's the proper order of things, but why don't the numbers simply count up through the positions to some degree?

EDIT: It's nice to be so relaxed on deadline day to discuss these things :emoticon-0100-smile

as far as I know its 5 players max in a squad, no matter where they come from. I've seen people say international loans don't count, but I haven't see or can't find anything official stating that

Agreed, but I'd rather we played some of the midfielders there that do the Ipswich model of just signing anyone

Huggins, Younger, Winchester, O'Nien & Flanagan can all play RB
Cirkin, Neil, Flanagan, Huggins and Gooch can all play LB if required

No idea - there has to be some origins to the positions.

Thinking back to the good (bad) old days, Beno wore 4, Owers played right wing wearing 6 and Brace played in the middle wearing 7

Pretty sure Dicky Ord played centre half wearing 8 too

My point exactly mate. They mean nothing in the way of tradition. Our CB is 3. Gyan was 3 at the end. Clint Denpsey was 2, Gallas 10. Wolves keeper is 11. I just put my thoughts forward because of the lack of number 7.

We can fine tune the squad in January. Reckon we'll have more than enough til then.

We've clearly been after a full back for quite a while though mate. Linked with bids for Key, Gabriel and this Arsenal lad. If we can get one over the line today, I'm sure we will.
With the 2 Germans both coming on loan, maybe we have decided against bringing the Arsenal lad in on loan and might turn our attention back to the permanent signing of Key..... we'll see.

From Wiki:

"In England, in a now traditional 4–4–2 formation, the standard numbering is usually: 2 (right fullback), 5, 6, 3 (left fullback); 4 (defensive midfielder), 7 (right midfielder), 8 (central/attacking midfielder), 11 (left midfielder); 10 (second/support striker), 9 (striker). This came about based on the traditional 2–3–5 system. Where the 2 fullbacks retained the numbers 2, 3. Then of the halves, 4 was kept as the central defensive midfielder, while 5 and 6 were moved backward to be in the central of defence. 7 and 11 stayed as the wide attacking players, whilst 8 dropped back a little from inside forward to a (sometimes attacking) midfield role, and 10 stayed as a second striker in support of a number 9. The 4 is generally the holding midfielder, as through the formation evolution it was often used for the sweeper or libero position. This position defended behind the central defenders, but attacked in front – feeding the midfield. It is generally not used today, and developed into the holding midfielder role."

Burnley lined up start of the season with 1-11 (for all the good it did them)
