Who will be our proven goal scorers? If we don't have any then perhaps we still need them?
Think Stewart will score goals, Jebbison looks handy if he does come in, maybe need another winger whos going to add a few goals but cant see that happening. Hopefully Embo/Pritchard can chip in from midfield. Onien decent getting into the box also

Aye that promotion season shows we got it right - :emoticon-0148-yes:

I think last season shows that:

a) a striker doesn't have to be proven to score lots of goals

b) having a striker score lots of goals doesn't guarantee success

Proven goalscorer are nice but I'm much more concerned about how the team comes together to win football matches. And I think somebody like Stewart moving defenders about will create the gaps that allow McGeady, Embleton, Pritchard, Gooch, O'Brien etc to score and assist more themselves.

Hope you are right but I would still like a goal scorer to be signed.

Wasn't sure about that reading the replies!

Forums can be hard to distinguish between people arguing against versus just providing counter views.

Like I say, for me, I'd love us to sign a new striker. Which football fan doesn't want that? And I'm far from convinced by Stewart yet, but he's not had enough time to rule him out.

I just don't think it is as essential as some make out.

My priority order for new signings is:

LB
RB
CB
FWD
GK (unless Patterson is deemed ready for number 1)
CM

We do need players all over the shop. Defence has looked fairly comfortable in pre-season but we haven't really played against anyone of note. Worryingly, the forwards haven't really stood out in pre-season so I would make strikers the priority. It's all about opinions.

Think so aye.

I think those two in, ideally in the next 48 hours, would be great ahead of Hull at best case but definitely ahead of Wigan. That would cheer everyone up a tad.

It would mean our recruitment next week and into august can move towards improving the squad rather than plugging the holes.
