I almost had forgotten Sheffield Wednesday were in the same division as us this season.

Some decent names in among those there, that I'd have liked at us.

Lee Gregory would have been a top signing for us, hes proven in League 1 with Millwall aswell.
Just remember we're waiting for the right players to become available though :emoticon-0138-think.

I get where your coming from mate but hes 24 isnt he? That means he only recently left Uni so how can he be an astute buisness man when all of this is brand new to him.
Its like buying a sh!thole of a pub that has loads of potential but keeping it the same way until some customers come in and then spending some cash further down the line to make it one of the best pubs in town.
Its pretty obvious we need some cash pumping into the team asap and the owner will reap the rewards further down the line. We have less than 4 weeks with league points at stake to find these so called right signings for the club. In the meantime we are left to crack on with no fullbacks?? Anyone that says i should be patient can feck off

yep. he is a young lad...iirc branson (for an example) walked out of uni without a qualification to his name and he has not done badly.

also, he has been around football and business his entire life from a business perspective (even if he had zero interest in the playing side of things) so he will certainly be an astute businessman, it is not as if he knows feck all here cos if that was the case he most likely would have thrown money into it ala Short, but he knows enough to realise that is not going to work.

this is the third division, most transfers done by teams have a history of freebies and one year contracts (moving clubs allows players to improve wages, apparently) and many a team has been promoted without 'splashing the cash'...far from 'keeping it the same way' KLD has already added new backroom staff including a new recruitment team, taken the data route when looking for players/value, the pitch has been re-laid, the stadium has apparently had a 'once over', wi-fi has been added inside the stadium, new contracts for match day food and drink have been sorted, work has been done at the AOL, young players have been brought in to give our youth a much needed boost, there is probably more being done and i also believe there will be some fees paid but i also believe these will be for players we are waiting for while the 3 that are in so far are improving the squad...so i prefer to take the view that the club has already began moving, it will take a wee while to get back to full speed ahead but to say nothing has been done since KLD came in is just wrong, he may not have done things the way the fans wanted but he has set things in motion.

Peterborough bought Szmodics and Clarke-Harris for a combined fee of nearly 3m. They are now in the Championship.

Ill just leave that there.

I’ll take any rumour at the minute haha, let’s hope it’s true
He names Preston and Leeds aswell

We spent that alone on grigg

Also spent money on Wyke Baldwin and onien, finished 5th

Harris is now worth a fair few million. It doesnt take a genius to realise spending cash will earn you even more in the future especially for a club of our size and fanbase.
The only obvious reason we arent is because we have nothing to spend?

...and we spent that plus more on grigg, your point being?

i am not saying it WONT work, i am saying the club has been ran into the ground over the past 12 years nearly that we CANNOT be throwing money around just to fill spaces, we HAVE to get everything in place and start moving.

i honestly do not see why it is so difficult to comprehend, people STILL insisting on throwing money at everything after the amount of times it has failed at this club...be thankful we have a lad in charge now that is doing things the right way, building a solid foundation!!

i want to be moving up the leagues as much as the next lad, i want to be competing to get into the premier as much as the next guy but we have all seen how the old 'quick fix' has ended with clubs in a worse state than they began and i am fecked if i want to see my club go the same way, i want us the get there, stay there and damn well compete at the top but we wont do that by paying whatever some fecker demands for players that most likely will not make the next step.

Yes we paid 4m from an absolute useless tw@t called Donald on a player not even worth half that.
You cant tell me now that spending alot of money isnt a good thing to get out of this god foresaken league.?
Peterborough had the right idea and it paid off for them. They are a tiny club compared to us but their chairman even said last summer that hes invested alot and fully expects promotion. Fair play to that man for showing the ambition

How much do you reckon a club like Cork would have wanted ffs. Id guess 100k max and at 19 we would be more than likely to earn a profit though. Look at the likes of McClean and Shane Long that came from the Irish league.
We were clearly interested but couldn't come up with the cash. I love the optimism from some of yous on here but ffs give your heads a shake.
Pure speculation.

So hes obviously worth the pittance Cork would have wanted for him.
Ill ask you again, why do you think we have not spent a penny yet? Its not the usual situation that happens when so called rich owners take over is it. ?

Yeah lets risk a months worth of League points to find the right players that could have been signed by now.
Its pretty obvious we have no cash to spend
You want to stop listening to the voices in your head mate.

What I can’t understand is why this new recruitment team can’t buy a quality player from the next level up for the right money, only players from the bargain basement, they aren’t going to be much use if we get promoted.

Usually I find that people who start their tweet/post with ‘not claiming to be ITK but…’ are about to spout bollocks.

That said, I hope this is one of the rare occurrences where we will get the signing(s).

Saracens rugby club only recruit players that they consider to be Saracens people- they have to fit into the culture and ethos of the club. This has served them well over the past couple of decades as they are easily one of the most successful rugby union clubs in the Northern Hemisphere.
I might be misremembering it, but I'm sure that it was said that something similar was being done by KLD and his new boys. Maybe, just maybe, the lad from Cork and a number of the other players that have moved to League 1 clubs over the last few weeks didn't match our new philosophy. I'd rather we took the Saracens approach and built long term success.

seems everyone has decided to jump on you for this one marra so i will just repeat myself again...we have had a dozen years of money draining away, any profit we may have made along the way has been eaten up by greedy employees and bad management.

it will do us no good whatsoever to start building swimming pools and dance floors on the upper decks if the ship is still sinking, KLD may well have the funds but he just cannot and, if he is an astute businessman, will not throw money at it, once we are stable and moving forward again i think we will see a few quid being spent but as things stand it would be a pointless exercise
Generally agree with that BUT if it’s well thought through investment in youthful quality that can increase both success and income. Right at this point we haven’t seen any of that and it’s what I was hoping for.

just make sure we stick to the rules with wages

ok, despite all reasonable arguments put your way to show exactly WHY we are not throwing money around, you are right...i will leave it there as banging my heed against a brick wall is something the doctor asked me to stop doing!!
