Good younguns from top academies won't need long settling in periods. Look at Doyle in his debut. Sure it was a friendly but he'd been here about 3 days.

They would likely be with u23s at city not the 1st team. However it's not vital they get 2 weeks with current squads it's vital they integrate with ours. Your right York was a friendly against a lower side. If we put out a team of strangers at start of season results may not be as good and supporters not s forgiving. First impressions usually matter. I'd also hope we'd have some of our own players rather than loan another 6 and be in this position again next year.

We've 2 weeks until kick off. Every point matters and our record at late signings isn't not good.

Rogers is training with the first team at City right now. They have hardly any of their first team there remember. He will be working with Pep every day as we speak.

All this is moot of course because we've not even been linked with him.

We've drastically culled the playing squad and wage bill and have a 2 billionaires within the club. If we're now claiming were penny less something really is up.

My other counter to the "every point matters" argument.

Lets say we lose 3 points against Wigan because we have no full backs.

We then sign the two best full backs League One has ever seen, and between them they make tonnes of goals and essentially win us games we wouldn't have without them. They could win us 10-15 points later on.

So I completely agree every point matters. A win at Wigan on day 1 is even more important than a win later on, due to the momentum early wins gives you.

BUT I come back to - I'd rather sign an 8/10 player late, that can win us 10-15 points later, than a 6/10 player now that might save us a few points in august.

Well there you go. May as well talk about any player training at prem level then. Point is they're better off in out club than not if we want them.

They want to run us sustainably before they spend. We aren't sustainable yet. I don't agree with their approach, but its the approach they're taking.

Who's to say that'll happen though. Our record of late signings is poor. The whole country know we need players and prices will go up. It'll get harder not easier to sign players.

It works both ways. Some players will be harder. Some will be easier. And some that aren't even available now will be available.

So no different overall but less time to complete deals. Bottom line is lj is worried so we should at least be concerned as he knows more than us.

I get that.

I just mean I'd rather we "missed out" on signing Gabriel from Nott'm Forest because he chooses Blackpool as they're in the championship, than we signed Conor McLaughlin, because no bugger in the championship wanted him.

You're starting to sound desperate with your continual remarks about the supporters not standing for it. It's almost like you have an agenda. I'm not saying you definitely do have an agenda, mind. I'm sure us Sunderland supporters will give the new owner support and time regardless of how this transfer window plays out.

I'm absolutely ****ting myself. I just don't think anything is anywhere near as final as many are making out.

The season is not over before its started, as many seem to think.
