I guess it makes sense for MacClaren to send out young players on loan and get others in, probably more senior. We've effectively got a transfer embargo for a year, so the youngsters will be a good reservoir if we have injury problems in six months time.

For that reason I am surprised Wheeler is a year loan. However for all I know there might be a emergency recall clause in the loan. There was with the Lumley loan last year

I would think there must be a recall clause. In our situation, we need it on all the loan contracts
 
Middlesbrough are attempting an ambitious move for Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to Sky sources.

With Middlesboroughs Traore moving, and Wheeler going to Portsmouth too (a sort of poor mans Freeman), does this mean that Freeman is unlikely to go anywhere this window. Or am I reading too much into this?

Hart has played like somebody that no longer cares ever since Pep got rid.

Queens Park Rangers manager Steve McClaren is hoping to bring in some experience to his side before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Speaking after the Rs’ 1-0 defeat away to Preston North End this past weekend, McClaren said he feels his young side is in need of more players who can add an element of experience to his current crop.

The London club have made one signing so far this summer, Toni Leistner on a free transfer from Union Berlin.

The 27-year-old made his debut in the defeat, and also captained McClaren’s men.

A player who exudes experience, and is currently a free agent, is former West Ham and Wales international James Collins.

The 34-year-old is still without a club since his release from the Premier League side in the summer.

McClaren could turn to the defender to add the desired level of senior professional to help his young squad over the course of the season.

According to football journalist Pete O’Rourke, three clubs have agreed fees for Accrington Stanley star Kayden Jackson.

Ipswich Town, Queens Park Rangers and Peterborough United have all had bids accepted for Jackson and now it is up to the player to decide his next career move.

The 24-year-old scored 16 goals for Accrington last season, helping his side to the League Two title.

Formerly of Swindon Town, Tamworth, Wrexham, Barnsley and Grimsby Town, Jackson had only scored one goal in the Football League before last season.

Ipswich are hoping to bring Jackson to Portman Road to replace Martyn Waghorn, who appears Derby County bound.

QPR want more firepower up front after failing to score against Preston North End on the opening day.

Meanwhile, Posh are targeting Jackson as a replacement for Jack Marriott, who joined Derby after scoring 33 goals last season.

The only logical reason may be that we are paying our players less than the young kids of Chelsea and co.
