Well if we think that Sharp is going to be playing in the main striker role then realistically he is in direct competition with Lambert, Rodriguez and possibly Lee (who I think would be able to play on the right aswell)

Out of those then I do think that Sharp is the weakest, although it is too soon to judge Rodriguez, but we aren't going to let him go obviously

Rodriguez was better than Sharp in the Championship last year so we could judge on that. Also has the age advantage.

I would be very disappointed if Sharp leaves and if he does then I think he would do a great job at Forest and would be playing for his old Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll.

Agree to a certain extent, but we have seen Sharp play with the other players and know how he does, Rodriguez its just guesswork atm based on his performances for another club.

Admittedly we look to be playing a much changed system to last season and the front players, if Ramirez and Mayuka are to be the regular wide players, are new signings so may not click with Sharp, which kind of makes my earlier point a bit redundant :D

Sharp going rather confirms the fact that NA is going to push on with 4-3-3 - in my opinion Sharp, of all our striking options, is the one least cut out to lead the line in this formation. Yes of course we need a flexibility to move to 4-4-2 or whatever, but then we have all that covered if you consider the plethora of striking options that are in the squad.

Of course it's sad, he's done nothing wrong and he's a great lad - it's a shame - but he just doesn't quite fit in to the new formation and new Saints that's being built right now for the Premiership.

Disclaimer - of course I could be utterly wrong on all counts.
