Adkins has preseason to think about it. Lambert has more to his game than just an old-fashioned centre forward, as being second in the Championship for assists shows. I know little about Rodriguez (apparently called Rodders by the Burnley team), but Billy is a predator in the box. He will probably start from the bench...a great player to have if chasing a game. Thank goodness for the return of the 7 subs rule. Lee gives us pace and I see him more as a winger. I can see us starting with Lambert, Jay and Lee (how attacking will that be!). I would go for the early blitz and try and grab some points before anyone knows we are there, then Adkins may have to adjust his plans.

Nabil Hassan from the BBC, tweets that Saints are after striker Dame N'Doyle (can't see that happening) and Adrain Marriapa from Watford ( can see that happening).

It's fantastic that we've managed to get this done so quickly before the competition got in. Massive well done to Cortese and welcome to the club Jay.

If it's true that his wages are in-line with other players, it's a good bit of business.

I suspect he might have been backup for the Rodriguez deal. Can't see us spending another £6m on another striker!

Might be some truth to the Mariappa one though.

De Bruyne would be a great signing, like I have said before I know a lot about the Belgium side, I have been to Belgium quite a few times and have seen Genk and Club Brugge play a few times and they play good football, De Bruyne is a great player who would be a brilliant signing if you were to get him on loan, I think if you could have him for a season it would be brilliant as after that I think he will return to Chelsea and make a steak for a first team place, and I think he will get in the team and make that place his own.

If he's on wages as reasonable as have been suggested, it's an absolute coup. Intelligent management, as always...no disruption from paying one player far more than his compatriots, and financially the fee is much more palatable as a result. Methinks we now have a Prem-quality strike quartet; if we can keep goals out next year, we'll do well.

On the penalty, that shouldn't be a worry here at least. ;)

Yeah, I don't think he'll take either of our penalties next season.

Barnard was injured quite a lot and then found it hard to get back in the team. Feel sorry for him, because he could have had a good year in the Championship. Unless he has an outstanding preseason, I cannot see him playing in the PL for us.

I think he will end up finding himself surpass to requirements being loaned out at first then sold that team possibly, I would have him at Gillingham, very much doubt he would come there though, but he did play for Southend at that level after Tottenham let him go, I remember when they loaned him out and sold him to them, can't remember if they had to pay a bit or if he was free, I think they had to pay, he was great, I remember when we played Southend, and I was there, he was always the player to watch, he was great for them.
Updated, if I am correct they didn't have him on loan, I think he was at other clubs on loan but they didn't get him and Southend went in for him and got him.

Do you think Davis will be good enough to be number 1 or would you rather someone else as number 1, I would have maybe Smithies but with Huddersfield in League 1 would they sell and would you want him as recently he has been injured for a while and he does make a few mistakes, but I think he is a great keeper for him age.

I think he could do a decent job, and I expect him to start the season as first choice keeper. I think we will need competition for him and I'd like to see us go for Butland, everything I hear suggests he is at least close to ready and he has enormous potential.

Whatever the goalkeeping situation, one thing is for sure which is that our defence needs serious strengthening.

He's going to bribe the management with steak for a first team place?
