If he's on wages as reasonable as have been suggested, it's an absolute coup. Intelligent management, as always...no disruption from paying one player far more than his compatriots, and financially the fee is much more palatable as a result. Methinks we now have a Prem-quality strike quartet; if we can keep goals out next year, we'll do well.

On the penalty, that shouldn't be a worry here at least. ;)

No I can see that happening. Was on £15k p/w at NUFC if what I read was correct. He wanted a rise and NUFC offered only £20k.

    Depends though I guess.

Lambert and Rodriguez will almost certainly be #1 and #2, with Lee/Sharp seeing opportunities based on the situation...when teams are pushing up and we need someone who can get beyond the defense, that'd be Lee. If it's a situation where teams are defending a bit deeper and we need someone who can finish in traffic, that'd be Sharp.

What great news. Four good strikers with years left in them. Now we need to tighten up in the back. I keeper and 2 CB is not where we will start the season. It does leave a bit of work to do for NA and the scouts.

Different strikers for different situations I reckon. I think they could all play together well. To me it certainly is looking like Guly will not be upfront much. Maybe he'll be back to RM.

I really can't see Lee Barnard getting a place in the 25 man squad, so the 9 shirt would become vacant for J Rod. Jay I feel sure will be in the line-up from the start.

Towards the end of last season, when Sharp was playing, it seemed to me that Rickie was in a slightly withdrawn position, and given that he has played in midfield in the past, I would like to see him play at the point of the diamond. It's not as daft as it might sound as Rooney, England's top striker, often plays a deeper lying role. Just a thought anyway.

The thing is, that this is the Premier, one trick ponies won't last very long, we need diversity, one game will see one set up, but another game may need a different approach, it isn't a case of who is the best player overall, it will be down to NA to select the best option on the day, the Squad ethic is going to be far more important this term, and we still need some pace and strength in defence, I trust NC & NA to do some decent business over the next couple of weeks.

Well, if nothing else, if we have got him, no one else can have him score against us. Next! Don't forget our other Spanish Ace, La Mbert

It was a massive signal of intent splashing out on Rodriguez, he is by far our most expensive player and I don't think for one minute that he was brought in to sit on the bench. Him and Lambert up front, then Sharp, then Lee, Guly back on the right. Anybody on the bench will make a great substitute (of which we have 7 remember) so think of it like that.
