I'd have Trippier over Clyne, looks a great player. However I do think we should be looking closely at a number of Palace yougnsters. Good technical players with good attitudes. Bit like our academy...

I rate Trippier higher too, but I thought I'd reference Clyne as lots of people get frothy over him. If his contract at Palace wasn't up, I'd let someone else believe the hype and pay over the odds for him. Decent player who would improve us, but not the wonderkid he often gets portrayed as.

Not a rumour but a thought of a potential target from watching the cup final...Dirk Kuyt.
Has been a squad player for Liverpool for a long time now and he must be craving 1st team football and being a bench warmer for a non champions league side it's time to move on.

He has tons of experience, a fantastic work rate and could play RM.

I think signing Clyne on a free deal would be a coup.. for any club going up the prem.. and something that we are missing is pace.. could do a job and would improve the squad and as a player too.. Too much to lay a blind eye too.. Trippier can play RM too so it would be good versatility for places.. Something that any club competing needs.! :)

What are his wages like? Seems like a decent shout.

Dirk Kuyt is not the player we're looking for. He just isn't.

This. He's going to want at least £50k a week and he doesn't fit with the philosophy we are looking for at all.

Here's a prediction - Saints will finish above Liverpool next season.

I personally think Kuyt is one of Liverpool's best players. Dalglish is just a moron who seems to replace rubbish with expensive rubbish. I'd have him at Southampton any day, the guy works his socks off.

This.... He is exactly the sort of player with the exception of maybe his wages... He has experience, a work rate second to none and also knows where the goal is!

Kuyt is really a striker that can play on the right as a forward, but he isn't a winger (few crosses, he always cuts inside), and his finishing is not Premiership standard in my opinion. He would also cost a fair bit, whereas if you were looking for a more direct winger you could prob get a Jarvis or a Kightly for much less than a Kuyt.

Are they? You're only as good as your last game and our last game against them we won 2-0!!!

We'll find out next year.

I expect a little tongue in cheek with this comment but if we win the carling cup, reach the FA cup final and finish in the top 10 next season we would be cock-a-hoop.
I must admit to not consider the wages aspect, but there is good top flight experience out there.

I don't know if this is old, but my mate is a Crewe fan and went to the game yesterday and returned full of gossip that we have bid £1m for Nick Powell.
