Is this Michu guy a realistic target? Much bigger clubs than us (Porto, Man Utd) have been linked with him. That said, I've not seen anything to convince me he's anywhere near good enough to play for them, so we'll see...

Sounds like an early revolution of the rumour mill to me. Would not be pencilling him into my first XI just yet.

Can't see Michu signing for us. He's the kind of player who would need time to settle, and I don't think we're in the position to be signing players like that. Bigger teams would be happy to sign him and put him in the reserves for half the season, but our signings really need to be ready to play by August.

Teams aren't going to spend £5m on a 26 year old and then put him in the reserves for half a season.

The Sun reports today were lining up a bid for £5m-rated midfielder Michu from Rayo Vallecano he has scored 15 goals this season.

Apparently Fulham, Wigan and WBA are all interested also.

Has anybody with knowledge of La Liga other than the top 4 heard of him or seen him play?

I've heard of him mostsly highlights on Revista Da La Liga but he's very good.

Left footed CM/AM scores goals as menioned, good age, good in the air, strong and reasonably quick.

He was at one point the top spanish born scorer, now I think it's Soldado. They sometimes hit the ball from free kicks to him as he is tall and he could do a similar job to Lambert with his head if he was missing for any reason or take some attention away from him. I was actually thinking the other week that he would suit us quite well. Lets wait and see :)

Exactly the same was said by many when we were signing Tadanari Lee yet he settled in far faster than Billy Sharp, a player already proven in the Championship.

Basically, you don't know how someone will settle and every transfer contains a risk that they won't.

Notice teams are starting to release players, latest being Reading and Leeds. Reading have listed 13 players.

Tbf Reading's quality in depth is pretty much non-existant. They need to release the poor backup they have as they just aren't up to scratch. And Leeds have Bates in charge. Enough said.

Domestic players are more likely to settle quickly. What I'm saying is we're not in the position to be taking risks with £5m signings.

What i'm saying is that every transfer contains an element of risk. Sometimes risks pay off.
