Maybe JUST MAYBE they didn't know how bad the injury was and had it been just a niggle he would have been available for this fabled "immediate" impact.
Maybe JUST MAYBE they should have brought in a player ready to play as well as him
Sorry if my opinion isn't a positive one

I think we will, unfortunately prices are often higher in January so might be a hard one to get done in Jan

However, I think we are going to be a healthier postion and possibly more of an atractive location to come and play.

think if we can continue this form players will look at us and think... I want to play there.

They tried, unfortunately they failed on that aspect - time will tell how big that 'failure' is
They had all summer tbf, I'm not massively fussed I just think it leaves us vulnerable. We've seen in the past that 2 injuries can happen quickly

N they would have worked all summer to get one, had bids in for at least 3 players - 2 went elsewhere n 1 we couldn't agree on the fee for. For at least 2 of them we couldn't go for them until we sold Clarke

The targets change massively when you get big money

I'm disappointed they didn't sign another but the squad is a lot better now than at the start of the window n that's always the main priority

They def will, the issue is getting the selling club to sell at a fair price. Teams do not like to sell good players in January as its hard to replace them

It’s an interesting one. If Mayenda’s development continues at a fast pace, and Isidor settles and impresses you’d have to wonder what a big money striker would add in the short term. Maybe we’d add something different - perhaps a PL loan to tide us over.

what some dont seem to grasp,

a player that would be 3-5 mill in jan is going for 9m+

and if the sellig club knows you are desperate for a player of that role...

The article about Stassin, Simic and Bamba is interesting, wonder if we go back in for Bamba in Jan
....or maybe even Mendy if we're struggling up top.

I'm with @Frazier the Lion though. If Mayenda and Isidor are showing signs of doing the business and the club feel Ahmed is a player that can make an impact at Championship level once fit then I'm not sure I'd look to disrupt that. Obviously need to see how the land lies once we get to Christmas (a load of factors to consider).

I'm amazed there hasn't been more interest in Bamba mind. Almost a goal contribution per 90mins in a struggling side in Ligue 1 and not dissimilar in the Austrian Bundesliga before that, good age etc. Maybe he's just an out and out goal scorer with out much of an all round game (which is more important to a lot of clubs at the moment) though the number of assists he gets suggest not. Maybe he's no good off the ball in the press etc.

Wonder what his contract situation is like or how well he and Regis got on? Time will tell I guess but he would have been one that got everyone excited, mind I’m buzzing with mayenda atm if he continues this form we won’t even be mentioning strikers

Not massively sold on mendy but half interested to see how he gets on now, will he get his head down or will he sulk

The only question I would ask of our billionaire owners would be - could they not float a few transfers fees from their own pocket? Like a bridging loan, until we received a fee for Clarke? I mean, we all knew he was going and actually selling him on Deadline Day (when we already have spent what we need to spend) might just have inflated the fee a bit.

I get the sustainability thing, but occasionally a bit of speculation can help, especially when you aren't then trying to buy players when every club knows you have £20m to spend.

Just a thought.

I know what you're saying, but as soon as we start stretching outside the plan - the plan may as well not exist. Sometimes these boundaries that the club enforce out of choice can lead to better decisions. It forces us to be creative and ingenious, rather than looking for the shortcut / cheat.

I'm fully signed up to how we are operating, mind, and know our rigidity will jar with other people.

And if, say, Clarke's move falls through because of a failed medical or because he, or the clubs, can't agree terms....? That's not sustainable.
