Watched a couple of his youth clips at gent.

looks like he thrives off the shoulder, is tall, fast, physical. Looks like he fits the profile of a striker we need. His finishing is good. Not seen his back to goal work yet. But I’m sure @Scout73 will say more on this with wyscout

but the initial signs are very very promising
He looks good from what i can see, needs to improve his pressing but technically looks good and gets about the pitch well

Puts himself about as well

Not loads of clips tho

Very raw but def worth the gamble

1149 pages, its been a journey guys

I am happy with what weve done, i get folks frustrations but just signing a striker wouldnt have guaranteed top 6

We are still in with a very good shot at it in my opinion

Def would have preferred another option up front n possibly at fullback but overall happy with the improvements made this summer

Im bowing out of this thread now as just going to go around in circle's now

Cant wait for the January one to start up again

and no we're arguably the inverse of Blackburn, imaging having a 20+ goal striker.

They tried and failed, you can be optimistic about the majority of the recruitment but the failure here outweighs that for me.

It's like turning up to the ok corral with two six shooters and we've only got 3 bullets in one.

Horrible simile that. Ike Clanton famously turned up unarmed that day and was only spared death by the Earp Posse as a result.

I just think it's revisionism to try and suggest the window has be good, despite 'solid' acquisitions in the likes of Browne and Mepham context must be sought in the fact that we've sold a massive asset in Clarke financially and whilst a couple of fees have knocked about this summer we've hardly put any of that into the position we've struggle the most since the Stewart injury and the Simms return to Everton.

People alledging vanity bids in the 11th hour for the likes of Bamba aside, it's clear they wanted someone else and their inability to do this despite having all summer and a relative war chest for this level is concerning and continues to be a major disappointment.

There's every chance we come good with what we've got and I'm always behind the lads but looking at it objectively the striker situation is such a glaring issue the fact it hasn't been adequately addressed considering the strikers signed by even other championship clubs this summer, massively outweighs and overshadows our other business, that's how important it is.
What’s your poster name on ready to go ?

He looks absolutely rapid

Sounds like over the last month or so we've turned down offers for Neil, Cirkin, Jobe, Hume, Ballard, Patterson, Watson, Rigg and Roberts - practically a whole team. Obviously we've taken the cash for Clarke, but maybe his value was the max it's likely to be while in the Championship, they have confidence in Mundle and also wanted to demonstrate we're a path to the Premier League one way or the other. Retaining our young players is the biggest achievement of the summer. Couple of astute experienced additions in Browne and Mepham and I think its been a very progressive window again. That said, a top centre forward and I think we'd all have been thinking automatic promotion was a realistic possibility this year

There’s no guarantees mate but I think it would’ve put us in a position that would be ours to lose. We all know how good this squad is and we aren’t far away from being promotion contenders at all, we probably already are but I think we would’ve had sufficient cover all over the pitch if we’d got that extra striker in and added four really good additions to the squad whilst only losing Clarke. If Mundle gets injured and Isidor goes left we’re back to Mayenda/Rusyn as the options up top. If Isidor gets injured same scenario. Just think that one extra would’ve given us some much needed breathing space if we were to pick up an injury.

If Mundle gets injured I think we'll see Rigg moved wide, RLB has already spoken about how he can play in the wide position(s)

GK: Patterson, Moore, Blondy. Nailed that IMO.

Def: Hume, Ballard, O’Nien, Cirkin, Mepham, Hjelde, Alese, Seelt, Huggins, Johnson. Ten defenders, 8 of whom are absolutely stick-on top end champ players. Injury issues to get over, but once we do we’ve got to be happy with that imo.

Mid: Neil, Jobe, Rigg, Browne, Aleksic, Samed. Plenty of options added to a core that has bags of talent. Surprised if any team is clear of us in midfield.

AM: Roberts, Mundle, Poveda, ur-AA, Ba, Watson, Bennette. Plenty of bodies, plenty of talent. Need someone to break through to compensate for losing Clarke but we’ve got some established ones and a few good rolls of the dice. A few that many have prematurely given up on (IMO) too.

St: Mayenda, Isidor, Rusyn, Abdullahi. Four competing for one spot. Bit of versatility in terms of roles played. Loads of pace. Fair bit of promise. Unproven. Need more time than many fans seem willing to give, but that’s true of any. How would our lot have reacted to the starts made by Simms, Wright and Latte Lath last season? But the same fans are the ones lauding them as the sort of ‘proven’ champ strikers we missed out on!

So that’s a squad of 30 which is absolutely bloody massive. We’ll always carry more as a player development focused club but we need to find minutes for players if we can. Will be interesting to see if RLB uses more subs once he has his squad more stabilised. Overall though, we’ve got the talent for a solid top 6 push and have the manager too. Season 4 of a 5 year plan. Feeling quietly confident over here.

Overall we're stronger now than when we won 3 games on the bounce without conceding (remember that ?)

We obviously had targets for an experienced centre forward but they didn't work out. We did, however, get 2 forwards in.

Our midfield is stronger, and our defence shored up after Alese injury.

I'm happy with the progress.

Maybe we'll get Mendy on the cheap in January.

I hope we get to see Rusyn wide left. Think the squad allows for that now.
Agreed. He’s only had 20 odd minutes there in preseason but he looked comfortable from the off there. AA too. He played a lot of his football for France age groups wide left of a front three. He’s energetic and a goal threat. It’s worth a look on both IMO.

I am happy with the summer window. Yes it would have been the icing on the cake to have signed another striker, but 7 goals in the first three games, with Mayenda up front tells its own story.

We have managed to keep hold of key players too, which is pleasing.

Win against Pompey and there will be smiles all round :)

What we need is a striker who will bring other players into scoring positions by being a target man… I don’t believe “goals” is ever the objective.. we have players all over the pitch who can score.. we don’t have a target man
Out of interest do Arsenal or City have a traditional 'Target Man' who holds the ball up, don't think they do and it doesn't seem to stop them scoring.
I'm not putting us into their category just yet mind.

That would be a bonus but I would still be smiling with a point. Unless of course they equalised deep into injury time. Then I would be like a wailing banshee and wanting blood <laugh>

The way we play you don't need a target man, you need someone who can score goals and run in behind.
