Personally I think selling him is a mistake. The slagging he got from fans for performances last season was massively OTT. He's a promising young player in a position where we are likely to have long term gaps. Last season was his first full one as a senior pro. Bumps in the road were inevitable.

Spot on mate.

For me, it all depends if Ekwah can bring the intensity when he plays. He is excellent on those days.

Not many clubs in the championship could turn down 6-7 million for their 5th choice CM. I like Ekwah n think theres a cracking player there but I also know that he might not fit into RLBs system. I dont think he has the aggression needed with his pressing to play this system of football and therefore if selling him brings in a CM that fits the system better we would be stupid not to do it (imo)

Hopefully be a busy few days as strengthen the squad n bringing in more firepower is keen for us to keep kicking on

Could say the same about Ba, Hjelde etc . Still need to continually make space for better if we can and be opportunistic.

Agree,if our judgement is they won't reach the required standard and we can replace with better,no argument. However,we've seen something in these lads and with better and more settled coaching,I wouldn't write them all off. They could yet produce their promise.

There's supposed to be a large sell on for Ekwah but even if it was the reported percentage we'd be looking at 5m which is a fair price for a 5th choice CM.

Bang on mate. Some of the stick he’s getting lately is daft mind. Just because he doesn’t bust a bollock running he’s all of a sudden became ****e to some folk. He’s still a good player that’s just not his style. Plenty of other midfielders who’ve gone on to become world class haven’t been full of energy!

I think the 8 is the position we’re most stacked, we’ve essentially already brought in Ekwah’s replacement on a free in Browne. If we could use the money to sign someone with better defensively capabilities who could cover Neil that’s great all round business and makes us a better unit.

For me he doesn’t have the work rate RLB wants for midfield. It’s a big sign that it’s the case when RLB doesn’t seem to use him or even bring him on. I think this is smart personally as we can recruit two strikers and a replacement for ekwah in the case of a young CM who ticks the boxes

Agreed.
The penny will drop re the ugly side of the game and when it does someone will have a cracking player on their hands. I'd like that to be us

Going demented already with all these links can’t wait for Friday to be over with

Yeah,me too mate. My fridge is already full, but I'm depleting the stocks with every passing hour....still only Tuesday FFS! Another couple of visits to the supermarket in the coming days at least.....and certainly on Friday!!

Personally I see the workrate thing as massively exaggerated amongst our fanbase. He's perfectly capable of defensive work. His defensive numbers last year were on a par with Dan Neil's. He's also more of a goal threat. I do understand the view that cashing in for our 5th choice cm at a decent number is reasonable. However, I'd be having a very close eye on the potential for him to be 1st/2nd choice this time next year if we don't get promoted.
