Aye if we had signed Mundle for £5m using the Clarke money and today was his debut, we’d be raving that it had been spent well.

the fact we already had him and had given him time to settle is massive kudos to Speakman
We have to be a bit careful still with Mundle. I know a couple of his youth team coaches and they loved him, has so much. But he is really young still in football terms. Clarke got some stick early doors for performances, Mundle will be the same. Young players are inconsistent, barring some real talent (see Rigg). Mundle will be a serious player, but he is going to need his teammates at times. Massive for him if Cirkin is present as he will be huge help.

Bottom line I still think Mundle is some way off the Clarke level right now. Others have to pick up some slack. But we are in a good position for that.

I've come to terms with Clarke leaving now but you have a point with the bold bit. We're building something special here on and off the pitch with proper foundations for a change. I can understand he wants to play in the premier league but why would you want to leave this?

Fully expected him to go last two windows, and start of this one to be fair and he goes cause he deserves to try and prove/test himself at that level

Ipswich probably have a decent chance of staying up but it will be a battle every week and he wont get much of a chance to show what he can do going forward. Defensively I think hes really good mind!

What we seem to have this season (early days) just feels a bit ‘special’ dont understand why you wouldnt give it a chance to develop

I wish him all the luck in the world. He's been brilliant for us, such an exciting player. I hope he scores the goals that keep Ipswich in the league. He'll get a brief show of appreciation from me, next time we play him.

He cost very little, was hugely successful and now moves on with goodwill on all sides. We have money to spend to help us improve and catch up to him. We already have his replacement and as long as we reinvest in another couple of players, it's the perfect example of "the model".

Was going to do a separate thread but since I told you all in this one about being invited to the game with my wife and my son for his first game I thought I’d just put it in here. (Sorry admin)

not long got home, bairn is absolutely wiped out but we had the most amazing day, Chris Waters is absolutely amazing as we all know, went above and beyond.

Met the mascots in the fanzone, bought him a scarf from the club shop which we’ve struggled to take off him since I first put it on him outside the shop.

entered through the reception, straight to the padded seats which was a lovely suprise. Chris popped out and gave us an envelope with a poster in signed by all the players, told us to enjoy the game then he would see us at full time.

Absolutely loved the game, sang and danced for most of it had to put his IPad headphones on because that new sound system I can only assume has been lifted from Space in Ibiza when it closed and has been strapped to the roof of our stadium.

He lost interest for half of the game, but that’s expected given he’s only four but never once asked to go home etc, even better giving the result as I feared we’d get pumped today so elated that his first game was a win, and a great one at that.

full time went, we stayed to soak in the last of the atmosphere while the crowds cleared and then Chris came to find us, who asked us to come to reception with him, so we did.

Guided to a little roped area inside reception next to the oil painting and got given a ball and marker to get signed by the players, so spent a good hour there talking and taking photos (more so for me) me and our lass have both fell madly in love with Dennis Cirkin too, what a beautiful specimen he is.
Amazing this mate! Glad yous had a great time

Echo all of that.

Jack is one dimensional, can get away with it in the championship but I doubt the prem will as giving.
But good luck lad you have earned it.

Ipswich thrived on balls in the box which makes me wonder if they'll get the best out of him.

All hail Mundle!!!
