Or they’re doing exactly as they’ve said they’re doing, actively interviewing potential candidates but not just appointing someone for the sake of it, only willing to take on the right person.

There doesn’t always have to be some conspiracy with the club lying to us.

Eh? I'm not saying its a conspiracy or they're lying. More they might be biding their time to see how the existing relationships work out. Which is actually what Le Bris himself has said. Rather than rush to appoint somebody just because fans think it would be a good idea. If the existing arrangements work well then there's arguably no need to appoint.

I swear sometimes on this forum you're not allowed to discuss stuff without people swooping in to tell you off :D

What we thinking for Saturday, then? Same team that started against Marseille? Rigg would be in ahead of Jobe for me - all day, every day.

Sorry, I didn't mean any upset.

They've explicitly said they're interviewing for the position so your suggestion that they're hanging on to see how it goes with just Dodds and Proctor is at odds with that and, though I'm not saying it was your intention, it just plays into the trope that the club, KLD and particularly Speakman value Dodds and Proctor above the progress of the club which is the drum that gets banged incessantly by a sizeable proportion of our online fans.

I think it will be the team that started vs Marseille. As they'll have been working that shape with that 11 predominantly, I reckon.

I too would have Rigg in for Jobe. Or Aouchiche for Jobe. But I'm pretty confident that won't happen in the short term.

Jobe to score the winner now :)

I perhaps should have worded it better. My point I was trying to make was that they know they can take their time in making an appointment or even not appoint at all, rather than rush to make one. If these three are working well together there's no need to disrupt it by bringing a 4th voice in, as there's no way of knowing if they're a good fit until they actually get on the grass.

So they could be continiously interviewing but without the burning platform beneath them that means they need to appoint by a certain date. Which is different to the managerial appointment as we obviously needed that role!!

If we start losing then that need might become more urgent.

I'd be starting Jobe, at least until we sign a forward with the ability to receive the ball against defenders. Currently Jobe is the only player we have able to do that. Also, Cardiff are extremely good from set pieces, even though Jobe isn't excellent in the air it would be suicidal to take him out of the team for much smaller players. In fact i'm pretty concerned about set pieces on Saturday.

All very good points this.

I'm excited for the season but personally really nervous about our start. I'm worried about scoring enough goals to overcome the ones I think we'll concede due to being too open / susceptible to set pieces without Ballard.

Ballard and the new striker will be key players and missing them from the start could be problematic. The first few games of the season often set the tone, and we as a club seem to go with momentum quite often.

There has been a degree of change over the summer but our form at the end of last season was awful. It doesnt always translate that a new season equals a new form book. I do worry a bit that some of the old worries set in if we fail to take chances or if we go a goal behind. I think the back 4 without Ballard is vulnerable to the high ball and coaches will target that. I cant predict the outcome at all, but I would be happier if we had Ballard in for sure.

5 games in 21 days (4 league, 1 cup), we can't afford to get left behind. Boro and Coventry both had a poor starts to last season and even though by the end they were some of the best teams in the division they finished outside the playoffs.

I know it's hard to get business done before the season but i'd be a lot more optimistic if we had a forward in. Probably more optimistic if Ballard wasn't injured as well.

Not saying i'm not optimistic mind, I'm looking forward to the season.

we don't have long to wait to see just how good our business and choice of head coach is... This league is unrelenting and deficiencies will be found out pretty quick. For what its worth, I think we will do ok... Doubt we will be able to complete for top 2 places, but I will be surprised/disappointed if we were not hovering around play off places... Guess we will all find out soon
