I’ll probably get pelters for even asking this but could tonight’s scenes in the city impact on our ability to attract some signings to the club?

Mendy, as an example, as a black Muslim man with a young family surely has doubts having seen that footage of the bus attack and hearing of riots targeting a mosque and indulging in anti Islamic chanting.

I’m just totally mortified by tonight.

We’ll find out who are Sunderland AFC and who are white without the red stripes and dare I say it black shorts. Shameful. Time for the silent to state their place and sort out the racists. It’s getting serious here and seriously embarrassing. I’m gutted to the soul about them girls, gutted about the texts I’m getting about being a mackem. We need to sort this.

It might make them think twice tbh, im mortified by yesterday- shocking scenes that have zero place in society!

I dont mind folk protesting for things they believe in but last night was folk using a tragic event as an excuse to cause violence

I thought some of the chat on here after the southport stabbings were shocking, folk believing what was put on social media before the facts actually came out and ended up with very racist view points (imo), which led me to actuallly blocking folk on here

I thought some of the discussions were very good and insight though and that was done in the right manner

Hope no1 was hurt last night, the city is a strong proud city and what happen doesnt reflect the people of the NE

Feel for the owners of the shops that were looted, the cars that were set on fire and any police office affected by last night

Just seen the club shop was smashed in too and potentially robbed, mindless thugs that don’t represent the club or the community

100%, using such a heartbreaking incident to do this is shocking

Bet there'll be some proud as hell with what they did last night - scumbags

We had a 'protest' at my work a few weeks a go but it was at 2am when no1 was there and all they did was smash loads of windows. All they did was caused a lot of work for our security n maintenance team

Pathetic mate, please to see people are coming together to help clean it up, should have never come to this in the first place though

I’d think twice. In fact I sort of am. Been looking at moving up if my son gets in to Durham which is his ambition but his girlfriend is of Italian and Caribbean heritage and I’d hate for her to experience the kind of prejudice that seems to exist in the region at the moment. Three years off so hopefully the country will be back to something approaching its normal welcoming and fair self by then.
