I think we just have to accept that Speakman and KLD will only ever do the absolutely right deal. Unfortunately the absolutely right deal rarely presents itself for strikers. It’s why it’s hard for us to get one.

got to be a time when we change that, we can't be left short again, it's not fair on RLB either

we either are, or we aren't working on many cf deals at all
just becuase it doesnt appear to be happening or there are leaks of a deal happening doesnt mean nothing is being done at all

its not like the club is going to put out a statment going " UPDATE - we are working on deals for ABCEDFG"

yes its annoying, but there is no point going worked up over nothing

maybe its me getting older but it doesnt bother me.

As they should, just feels like we are handcuffing ourselves by not selling players which would open the market up for us.

I mention Boro's options but that is only possible because they have made approximately a £17million profit in 22/23 and an £11million profit in 23/24 in the transfer market. They have money to burn, we've made a loss in both our championship seasons.

Usually it's leaked by the player's side or the selling club's side. Yeah we keep things under wraps but can we just assume we keep everything so quiet and that's why we haven't heard anything. Either way if one isn't in before Cardiff I'll be worried

Your hardly going to go public on who you are interested in and who you have bid for, there is no way we aren't working deals and seeing what's out there that's for sure, just look at the Poveda leak - leaked and signed within 2/3days if that, probably had been working on it since they found out Leeds weren't renewing

Free Agent deals are easy to keep quiet, deals usually get leaked when transfer fees are involved

Poveda was mentioned months ago about being a player of interest.

Come on that's a stretch, its usually the opposite with the agent touting him around - but we are both assuming because we have never been involved in a transfer, plenty of cases in the past especially for us when a player is linked and signed in a couple of days, mundle and hjelde more recently pretty much heard about it when they were signing

Theres always a couple every window that seem to be drawn out such as Rusyn

The only things striker-wise we have heard right now is a held-up deal with Mendy where we aren't even close to their valuation anyway & we are 'interested' in Ugbo but his fee is 4.5m which might put us off

If we are signing a striker from an English league I can't see that not getting out like personally

Mate £4.50p puts us off buying a striker.

Im still really relaxed about our striker situation. Of course id prefer one in already but this is normally the time transfer activity starts to pick up.

We still have over a month of the transfer window to go n the key is to be stronger at the end of the window than the start. Currently we are stronger but still with an unbalanced squad, so thatll need put right by the end of the window

I know our recruitment team will be working non stop to ensure we get the right players in by the end of the window

Ill start to worry more if we are going into the last week to 10 days of the window with no striker

Maybe, maybes not, its when it comes out though might leak and they are signed straight away

I cant see us blowing our load early in the transfer window tbh, hopefully one in before Cardiff and a second we may wait till the last minute as we normally do haha could be scrap heap could be a coup

completely agree. It’s why I’d be very happy to see an accepted offer for Jobe or Ekwah. I really like both of them but they’re the most expendable. And the right offer for both of them would give us so much firepower in the market.

Hell, we could even be waiting for such an offer to happen before spending £3m on plan C when we could wait for more cash to come in and spend £7m on plan A

Disagree here mind. We have 4 games in August and look at how long it took for a player like Rusyn, meant to be our marquee signing last summer, to settle. You could argue he still hasn't. A big part of that was zero pre season with us. Clarke has spoke twice about how the squad and him especially is still adjusting to RLBs system and way of playing, i'm not sure I want a crucial signing not being up to speed until October.
