John Egan barely played last season, was he injured or just out of favour?

He's only 31 so got a bit of mileage in him left at this level, you'd think

Also people saying we couldn't replace him for £10m. Of course we could. We're in the championship. Any new right back doesn't need to be as good as Trai Hume. They just need to be good enough to be part of a promotion winning team. And you can definitely get good right backs for under £4m let alone £10m.
I really like Hume but I’m not sure a fit Huggins isn’t a better right back.

Knowing what's a fair price for a player is difficult, mind. Things move on (and up) so quickly.
We are going to have to sell a few at some point, just the nature of the beast. I really like Hume, fantastic work by recruitment team getting him for next to nowt. He's a winner, an animal on park and I absolutely love his attitude. Maybe he struggles a bit pace wise but far more positives than negatives.

62 million for an 18 year old. Blimey.

All I know about him is he's good on FM. But thats a lot of money and pressure on a young lad.

Considering he was reportedly close to turning them down to wait for a move to Real, I think he will be OK with the pressure.

Sounds like an exciting talent. Him and De Ligt would be a great pairing at the back.

Think United are on the up.

What's happening with Dan Neil and Ballard contracts? seem to have gone quiet, unless I missed something when on holiday last week?!

you've not missed anything.

I'm sceptical personally, they both only signed new deals last summer didn't they(?), and you'd expect their agents to want to see the transfer window out before committing further.

would be delighted to be wrong of course!!

Would be worried about him playing in a back 4, seen him a few times in a back 4 and he really struggled - needs the 2 CBs next to him

Knows the league tho and great leadership experience so wouldnt be against him coming him, just dont think hes as a good as some think if hes being asked to play in a back 4

Yeah good point, Rigg was the really important one to tie down which we've done thank god!

Does RLB have history with playing 3 at the back?

If anything Embo is AA ( in the 10 ) replacement off the bench. Or he is moved on. Had talent for years and is always looking to sneak passes through the lines. Genuinely both footed which is massive.

Just had many missed years where he hasn't kicked on.

Hardly ever gets 90 mins in.

He is perhaps my favourite signing of this regime. Picking up a lad from a semi pro to be as good as he is is an excellent testament to trusting scouting expertise. The lad is a credit to himself too. Oddly though the most exciting signing in the current regime for me is Pembele, all based on his early breakthrough at PSG and age group games at france. Different routes into the game, but if Pembele is what I think he might be we could have a future France right back on our hands in a couple of years.

I hope you're right about Pembele as I've not been impressed at all with what I've seen so far from him
