I've always been one who would never have O'Nien in midfield. He always used to strike me as someone who lacked the discipline to sit in. He tended to chase the game too much and that has previously led to his midfield performances being pretty dreadful (bar a couple of specific man-marking jobs in the L1 playoffs). That being said, he's smart and he's adapted to centre half far better than I thought he would (where he's definitely an upper champ level now). I wouldn't bet against him being able to adapt again - although it could be very rough, too.
Luke is a very much improved player in the last year or so......and fits the experienced tag. When he came to us we saw him as a midfielder, but,it soon became obvious that he's a player who is more comfortable with the play in front of him. I think he could be a good defensive midfielder now....he's mobile,he sees the game and he is a surprisingly good passer. As long as he's sitting deep, allowing Neil and whoever to get forward,it might not be a bad shout. Without any new signing,it would depend on Seelt's fitness to drop in alongside Ballard,or,whether Nectar is up to it. Another option at cdm might be Hume, with Pembele/Huggins(as and when)coming in at full back. He has lots of experience in this league now,as well as being away with NI.
