If Stewart was available and needing to go back down a league I'd like to think we were in for him! As long as we got him cheap enough to risk his injury!
It’s a nice thought but I think our medical team might think he’s done. It’s hard to believe but the 10m deal was genuinely cut price. Fully fit would have been double. On loan with Southampton covering most of his wage worth a look but otherwise I wouldn’t entertain it personally.

From what I read earlier on the new lad a CDM is crucial to how he likes to play.

Any suggestions on who fills that role for us? Could Neil do it?

I think Neil is a lot better further forward personally. Its part of the reason we suffered this season, stuffing Neil or Ekwah into that role when they both want to be more expansive. We need someone in the Corey Evans mould really. An experienced player who is happy to sit and screen the defence and then pass to one of the more creative lads so they can go and be destructive.

Tricky isn't it as I would love Neil further forward but he does so well sitting and dictating the tempo

Gotta be a new signing for me mate.

With that said, I'm sure someone on here mentioned "two signings being close" a few days ago, Moore being one. Wonder who the other could be.

I think Neil learned loads playing alongside Evans before his injury. He can do it, but for me it isn't his strongest role. If we can find that experienced head to play that role then Neil will grow again, and Ekwah too.

I have always been convinced Neil is a Rodri in the making. He has so much talent to play 360 degrees vision. Touch is immaculate now, passing is sublime and his improvement last year in cutting off passing lanes was brilliant. He wins his fair share of tackles as well. Let him be our orchestrator in there for me. CDMs these days arent so much Cattermole, more a Rodri. He would be my captain and leader on the pitch, he has grown into it and deserves it.

Well, if he becomes half the player Rhodri is we will have a gem.

I'm torn between wanting him further forward creating chances and sitting deep dictating our tempo

Thats why i want us to sign alan browne as he would really compliment Neil

Exactly what we need. Is he definitely leaving Preston? I know their retained list stated he'd been offered a new contract but not seen anything since.
He hasnt signed yet as far as i can see, he will have plenty of offers - probably most teams in the championship

I heard a couple of European teams are monitoring him as well but no idea what teams

I just think he suits us and him n neil could be the best CM partnership in the league next yr
