And since then has took a huge wage from Saudi and played for a huge European club. Even if we offered him a wage above our wage structure, it'll be nowhere near what he could earn by just going to Wolves or something.
Wages were never an issue, he wanted to come home

According to what I was told, he was very very keen on it, we weren't so keen

I'm highly sceptical that Sunderland turned down the chance to sign Jordan Henderson from 12 months ago, Liverpool captain, England regular, hometown lad with an outstanding reputation and profile. Especially if wages weren't a problem.

Can't imagine what the problem would have been.

Just passing comment on what I was told last year

He also lost 8m by leaving the Saudi league.

And then got a £1.2m signing fee and about £80k a week at Ajax according to reports on a 2.5 year deal.

Are Ajax releasing him? Otherwise how are we going to pay for him this summer? Everything I can find says they want to sell him.

Didn't Saudis pay about 10 million for him?

This is a guy who vocally stood up for gay rights and then arguably ended his career to take money from a state that openly executes gay people.

Crossing an arbitrary line from red to blue kind of pales in significance to that.

Pretty sure Jordan Henderson would go to Everton or to Newcastle if it made sense for Jordan Henderson.
There's not a chance in hell that he would sign for the mags in any capacity

I’d love us to sign this guy, he’s quite literally the perfect Ross Stewart replacement

Unsure on him tbh and I don't really see the Stewart comparison. Nowhere near as good as Stewart off the ball defensively and nowhere near as good as Stewart at linking the play, based on both data and eye test.

He'll cost a lot more than that tweet suggests as well.
