For some reason players that have previously played in prem are worth more, regardless if they were any good or not. Already been a few like that where the fee looks huge for what the player is (O'Shea, Foster, Rutter just off the top of my head) When you compare that to what we got for Clarke it makes no sense. I don't even think we were far off what Clarke is actually worth as well, it's more a case of other players being well overpriced.
Ogbene plays from the right mainly. I think his going is why Luton are after Patrick Roberts. Clarke will be competing with Broadhead and, based on the weekend, Szmodics on the left. Szmodics will be competing with Chaplin and other to play as a 10 too so I think Clarke will be earmarked to be first choice.
On Safc web site It’s all about Clarke replacement Wilson We are still waiting for our striker additions I was lead to believe there were having medical a few days ago I know it’s been bank holiday and the world stops I might hear something about our in coming strikers soon ???
Burns, Hutchinson and Obgene right. Clarke, Broadhead, Szmodics can all play left. Good options but no idea who’ll play out of those tbh. Hutchinson and Clarke obvs the big money signings but Burns started v Liverpool and looked alright first half until he got injured.
Broadhead is always injured (as he is right now) Szmodics won't play left Clarke will start Good luck to him.
Agree with this and, as per the Newcastle cup game, Clarke played in a team where everyone struggled to attack other than Ba on his 10 minute cameo
Ballard signed a new deal Rigg was handed his first professional contract and signed for 2 years. I for one would improve his deal and offer a 4 or 5 year deal that secures us from losing out financially on what looks like a great prospect whilst also rewarding him with a great deal for the way he has started his professional career. For me making sure that performances of our best players are rewarded is as important as new players and as a fan base we should not lose sight of that I know DB has just signed a new deal but by January we may well be able to improve on that, which if needed gives us negotiating strength further down the line.
