He will likely be outside of our price range to be honest. Especially after a excellent season last year in a promotion winning side.

Jobe must have had an outstanding season then.

8 years age difference with Broadhead playing in a much more consistent team and only scoring 7 more goals. Then you factor in Jobe was playing multiple positions for us.

Not really in comparison. Broadhead blows him out of the water

Jobe

7 Goals
1 Assists
43 Games stared
45 Matches played
3,642 Minutes played
6.89 Average rating

Broadhead

13 Goals
3 Assists
29 Games started
38 Matches played
2,310 Minutes played
7.05 Average rating

Many more goals, assists and 14 games less starts.

Not even a comparisons. Strange one to make.

1 played as a striker/inside forward and the other played mainly in midfield.

Jobe started the season as a 17 year old with next to no experience, while Broadhead started it as a season pro of 25.

Fair comparison to me.

Your way of looking at it would have Wyke being more important to us in his highest scoring season than Ross Stewart did the season we went up.

To be a top striker you need that strikers instinct you cannot be coached it
For poachers I think there’s some truth in this but for other centre forwards I don’t think that’s true, many flourish later after years of learning the role. Jobe could do that but it may not be the best use of his talent.

Its a shame that we missed a trick on Broadhead. Although tbf if its right that he didnt back himself to get in ahead of Ross Stewart or Simms then what can you do.

We need that 15 goal plus man this summer, it’s as simple as that.

totally agree we simply cannot go into another season without vastly improving the striker position at the club…..no excuses.

they continue to get an awful lot right and of course they are going to make mistakes but the striker situation goes beyond a mistake now

Need to look elsewhere if you want a +15 goal striker.

Big pressure on the club to get someone.

Just looking at objectives facts and performance.

I didn't make the comparison you did. I replied with facts.

Was a strange one given the age and position they play, but you made it anyway.

I don't think jobe had an outstanding season. He had a good one.

we need someone who knows where the goal is definitely but just as importantly I think we need someone who can occupy defenders, make runs in behind at times, help to link up play.

You could see with Stewart when we had him his approach and style actually helped to create space for the likes of Clarke to exploit….defences had to take a step back which created space, without they could push higher up squeeze the space and double up on our main threats.

I’m not down playing importance of goals but I think wider aspects of play are also important.

Sadly none of our striker solutions since Stewart have been able to offer any of that…..tough gig for the club to get the right person but as I said earlier we cannot go into the new season without improving that area of the pitch

Agreed.

Broadhead would actually still be perfect for us. His intelligence and link up play with press would work well in a fluid 3.

But we won't be affording him. Would imagine his stock is high and his price will be more than Simms which we wouldn't pay.

I totally agree about what we need. Play the way we did under TM and a striker isn't going to be banging them in every week. Hopefully the new man tweaks things and makes the team adapt to a forward.

Not sure Broadhead is the answer with him never scoring over 15 league goals in a single season to date.

I was comparing their goals stats compared to positions on the field, age, experience and teams.

A bit like Pritchard barely bettering Neil's stats when playing further back in the midfield.

Let's see where the new man sees Jobe playing this season.

Yeah I’d agree Broadhead is a different kind of player….if we were getting 2 strikers then fair enough but given his likely price he ain’t gonna be one of 2 strikers coming into the club (not that I think we will buy 2 strikers anyway)

No idea what Prichard has to do with this debate.

Yeah, interesting one. For me he is an 8. Not good enough as a 10 or 9. In fact, out of them all, I would have cashed in at 20m and invested but that's just my opinion.

Think the ship sailed on him as soon as he turned us down last time, unfortunately.

I also feel people have totally dismissed Mayenda and Hemir in all of this.

Broadhead for me wasn't a great goalscorer, plus you need to factor in his injury record.

Lots of talk about broadhead but hes not been used as a CF at ipswich. He gets used as an inverted winger, he almost plays as anothrr no10 for them then davis gives them the width from LB

I was always a massive fan of broadhead and would def take him back but his best performances for Ipswich since going there have been from left wing

Broadhead turned us down the last time, and will probably get chances for Ipswich.

There's a lad who scored the winner for England the other night who would be ideal for us <laugh>. Shame we didn't take the plunge when he was at Exeter.

I'm all serious though, someone who could potentially play like Watkins would be ideal for our system. Imo
