I think Rigg signing for 3 years will be great news but I’m greedy and would like him here for at least 4 and preferably 5. The first year he will be in and out, probably ending the season a much improved player with loads of potential. The problem then is do we sell after 1 year because if we wait until the second year ends we could end up losing him on a free the next year. If we got him on a 5 year contract we would get 3 good years and be in a strong position to sell during the final 2 years (unless we get promoted and he wants to stay) However, 3 years would still be great.
Great business by the club. Obviously want him here for the long term, however this protects the club massively if he were to leave in the next couple of years.
The signing of Rigg on a pro contract is huge. Don’t think we will fully understand the importance until we watch him develop this season. I think he will be a hugely important player in our season, at the age of 17.
